Is there a hotkey for "Play and record input"? So that I don't have to use the one in the toolbar, thus be able to record input in the middle of the game instead of right at the start. (ZSnesW had something like that)
EDIT: side note. Is there a way to play Chotto Kiitena in DDR 2nd Mix with BM in MAME?

MAME record feature cannot be toggled ON/OFF while playing, you have to specify it at start (using your GUI, or -"record <inpName>" at the command line).
IIRC you can record from a given state though (use both -state <stateName> and -record <inpName>).
Note, since you are not recording for scratch, you should mind things that can cause record / playback issues such as NVRAM.
By the way, which DDR games work good for you ? I tried a few and most seemed to suffer severe sync issues (either that, or old mix are really poorly synced, or both).

None of them, although Dance Maniax 1st Mix doesn't seem to lag. They all lag on me. Maybe it's my laptop, though. (Even with 8gb RAM, it's still laggy).
For the sync issue, set the Audio Latency to 1/5

The official one messes everything. A limited custom build that only capable of playing KONAMI music rhythm games only can get rid of sync issues.

All digital system 573 games suffer from very poor sync and audio glitches, so they can be stated as "not working".Post #68 · Posté à 2019-10-23 03:24:10pm il y a 4.9 années

Eversince mame got the fix for the mp3 audio, they forgot to change the status. Most of the konami music games got working audio and better syncs now.

Just search for the ROMS using the search engine of your choice (Google, Bing, etc.)

I doubt they "forgot" to do it, this is most probably on purpose. These changes definitely got high visibility and did not went unnoticed at the time (for one, the changes came just before a release, and the specific release with these changes was delayed for that reason).By the way, most of these games used CDs or hard drive disks, so you will need CHDs, not only ROMs.

Try setting the 'slot options' from 'game' to 'install,' then reset. Once installed, switch it back to 'game' then reset.
Do you have the chd files as well?
EDIT: How do you change difficulty in Dancing Stage 1.5 and DDR NA version (the one before DDR USA)? It just goes straight to the song select.
