Extra Stage songs need standard mode to access so yes they aren't accessible in American machines because of PASELI and American machines run on Japanese servers. There are ways to get around this like giving someone in Japan your e-amuse account number and they unlock it there but I don't know the exact steps on how to do it.

A DRS cab has appeared at Dave & Busters San Diego, presumably for a location test.
The timing is really interesting, considering the entire city will be busy for all the Comic Con events happening everywhere..

As far as we know, it's not a location test. It's running a Japan build and has light start only. Identical to the ones at American R1s. Timing was unintentional, it's been in the works for months now.

The same DnB also just got marble carnival, meaning they may have reached some deal with R1 or used the same distributors.

The big difference with DDR A is that the cabs don't say "for sale and use in Japan only" on them, but specifically North and South America. I seem to remember hearing one of the D&B top brass saying that the reason they'd never consider the other Bemani that R1 has is because of that screen. This still applies to DanceRush, so maybe they changed their tune? Or maybe they didn't want to worry about people not being able to understand the games, as DanceRush is the only JP Bemani that I can think of where the JP version is able to be set to English.

That "japan only" screen is designated to software only, it's got nothing to do with the cab itself. The cabs were developed and produced and shipped here from Japan, so I stand by my statement that DDR white cabs are import bemani, they count as such.

That's not what import means in this situation. At all.
An import would be Dave and Buster's getting the Japanese cabinets as-is, like Round One did recently with A20. The A cabinets are certainly not.

They ARE Japanese cabs! They were produced and developed in Japan and brought to the US AS IS, IMPORTED! Then it was translated and given software for here. It still counts as Import Bemani dude, come on now. if it was a US cabinet it would be produced here but it's not, there's a big difference.

They are Japanese cabs. They're running the same Asian build R1 and overseas cabs are running. Only light start is available.

OBJECTION!!!These US imports use REC:J:*:*:~ instead of REC:A:*:*:~. Only asian and korean cabinets use coins in both LIGHT and STANDARD modes. Japanese cabinets only use LIGHT mode. STANDARD mode req. PASELI and PREMIUM mode is disabled in USA.

There's literally no way to access Standard mode in the US; Konami would need to make a dedicated US version, much like DDR A. :/
Hell, we still don't even have the option to film ourselves for one song. >>

Wasn't the "filming the player" feature disabled in the US because it violates COPPA?

Round1 has it disabled on their machines because of COPPA concerns (probably concerns of young kids ending up in the footage). I'm not sure if Konami has given any consideration on how to make things work for the US or not, since I haven't heard of any update on this matter since the initial Round1 tweet that Premium would not be available.

Well how does every other photo booth game you see in arcades work nowadays?

Those images aren't typically transmitted over the internet. The same thing can be said about Mario Kart Arcade GP DX, Moto GP, Cruisin' Blast...Really any game where the photo doesn't leave the game.
The DRS issue is that is leaves the machine, sits on a server, and then allows you to download it somewhere later.
