This is OVER ACTiVE DX 3. I've never played myself, but judging from some OADX skins I put in LR2, there seem to be a lot more customization options than LR2.

They wanted something other than LR2 and SM5...
Unfortunately though, I don't believe that really exists, unless you want to sacrifice so many features that you won't be able to play recent BMS files.
Lunatic Rave 2 is undeniably the best publicly available BMS simulator.

It's not LR2 or SM5. It's a completely different simulator.
When I was talking about putting the skins in LR2, I meant that the skins for OADX work for both games.

Wait, what? OVER ACTiVE DX has always been a skin for Lunatic Rave 2, and only that. That's what I got when I downloaded the file.
I don't believe they'd waste the time to make a separate simulator when Lunatic Rave 2 hadn't stopped updating at the time of the last update according to that page you linked.

here's a question i've been wondering about.. is there any theme for LR2 (or a different IIDX simulator) that lets you adjust the hi-speed / sudden+ in the same way that tricoro does? i would play a lot more BMS if i was able to dial in my white and green numbers the way that tricoro lets you do.. specifically i mean using the turntable to adjust sudden+ and keys to adjust hi-speed while the song is loading, with white and green numbers displayed. and also being able to switch back and forth between normal hi-speed and floating hi-speed modes.

Switching between floating Hi-Speed and normal Hi-Speed isn't possible in LR2, but you can change the amount that Hi-Speed changes by per key press. The green number wasn't ever implemented either, I believe.
Note that the last update for Lunatic Rave 2 was February 1st, 2010, so there are quite a few things that weren't even thought up at that time. Also, I believe it can't update anymore either, as the source code was apparently lost (they probably would've fixed the memory leak if they could).
