I'm going to be making top 10 videos mostly related to DDR.
I'll post all the ones I make in this thread.
Also, if you have suggestions ranging from editing techniques, suggested topics, etc. please feel free to discuss that here. Thanks.

I'm going to try passing the vid around Mixi and maybe LWorld as well. I know I rushed the captions a bit but it can't hurt to have that all polished off; if not for this one then for future videos.
It looks great, though.

Lookin' nice and purdy. Very informative and interesting.
Personally, I'd rather be seeing a lineout of the actual gameplay instead of StepMania gameplay, but that's just me; at least you were showing the stepcharts at all, and I can dig it.
Question: what other Top 10s do you plan on doing, if I may ask?

Two things that annoyed me:
- your voice has been changing through the video. It seems that you may have used different mic/settings at some point. Compare for example 1:00 and 3:30.
- when you are skipping some part of stepchart use fade in on last + fade out on new. Cut like that it looks weird and sounds weird.

Would definitely like to see more of these. I really liked how you gave specific reasons for why each song fell where it did including comparisons to make your case. I do agree that line outs of the actual game would be preferable, but it's not that big of a deal in my opinion. Everything else looks very clean, nice, and informative.
Keep up the good work!

There are lots and lots and lots of top 10 topics you could do, opening up opportunities for variety. Since this video was mostly all about the difficult songs, they were all obviously going to be 18's and 19's. You could choose to do top 10 songs from specific foot ratings, top ten songs by a specific artist, videos for top ten songs from each individual mix. Top ten CS exclusives, licenses. You could base them on just the music, instead of the stepcharts. Top 10 BG videos. etc. So many choices.
I have to mimic what everyone else is saying that I'd prefer to see actual game footage. But it's still cool to have in the first place, DDR isn't a franchise that has a lot of countdown vids like this.

Thanks for the response and thanks especially for the suggestions. I hope with the input of the community, the next videos will be even better. I'll definitely be more careful about audio consistency.
I was very close to using line outs instead of SM. The main reason I decided on SM was autoplay to be honest. To get the effect I did (2 players, different mods, and noteskins) would be a challenge itself. Not to mention if they are actually playing then all judgements are sure to be abundant. Not really a bad thing, however, then I feel some of the focus will be taken off the content and focused on "how good/bad are they doing." Have autoplay gives sort of a cleaner presentation imo. If you have other suggestions then let me know.
In my own mind I already have some ideas for future top 10's and have already gotten quite a few good suggestions with this video being up less than 10 hours. I am glad with the overall response so far.
Some of my ideas include:
-Hardest songs Doubles
-Best songs that should be crossed over to the Arcade
-Hardest stops/slowdowns
-Favorite aritist/songs/charts/etc.
-Game changes since 1st mix
-Unique DDR mixes
I'd like even more research in my next one. Probably when I decide the topic, I'll post that here first. Let discussion happen among everyone and then make the video.

If you ever plan on doing some collaborations Top Tens, I raise my hand to volunteer. Give people two perspectives on the same basic idea.

IMHO, I think Horatio's chart from DDRX's US CS to be the most demonic shock arrow chart in existence; worse than Pluto the First but I assume you limited it to "AC" only.
Wouldn't mind seeing you talk about the top 10 in each Universe mix that are CS exclusive as there is a lot of good stuff there.

Ok I take it back. Your reasoning makes more sense. Autoplay definitely illustrates your points on the stepcharts more clearly.

Also you should do the flipside of that and do the Best songs that should be crossed over to Console.

The only thing I'm a little surprised about is how Fascination Eternal Love Mix wasn't mentioned at all, is it actually not that bad?
Granted, I haven't tried it in some years...

Of course the top 10 hardest songs is subjective to just about everyone. Probably if I redid the list again I might make a few small changes though over all I am please with how it is as well.
(btw, Ringo just beat his own Valkyrie dimension score in the past couple days, 956,xxx now)
I am getting ready to start my next one soon. Maybe you guys can help me decide which one. These are the ones I am leaning towards for my next one.
-Most Iconic DDR songs (butterfly, Max 300, etc)
-Trickiest Stops/slowdowns possibly hidden BPM changes depending if I have enough interesting ones for the first 2
-Hardest Expert/Challenge songs PFCed
-Hardest Expert/Challenge songs MFCed
I'll probably decide in the next day or two then hopefully with your guys help start gathering info and discussing order.

I had LWorld pass around your video. Now that the dust has settled he only had 3 things to say:
1. He thought your video was well produced and interesting
2. He lold that almost all the records were Brosoni and the 5 1 3 score on Pluto the First stuck out like a sore thumb
3. He was shocked Go for the Top Challenge was rated so high, but then he never played that chart from the sounds of it.
I don't know about other video suggestions from him, but I would like to see one for double. There are a few topics you could do on that. Which are the hardest to pass, which differ the most from the single charts, which have the most brutal patterns, etc.

I'd go with the trickiest bpm/stops, there seems like there would be a lot to learn from watching it for the people that are unaware of them, and would probably still be interesting for those that do.
Doubles also seems like a good idea, though I'd leave a "hardest" video for a few episodes out just to mix things up a bit.
Great job, keep up the good work!
(Also, Go for the top is very deserving of that spot. .-.)

It's very good. As others have pointed out, there's a disparity in the voice-overs, as you come across as very confident in some, and reserved in others.
I would personally use Stepmania with Autoplay on, for all the reasons you've mentioned, but I wouldn't use a build that looks so obviously like Stepmania. There are plenty of builds now that are very tough to tell apart from the arcade versions.
I've tried to come up with ideas that allow you to use some interesting footage from outside of the game, like music videos and such.
Top 10 Bizarre Music Videos (A chance to show the music videos to licensed songs, or things like bizarre IIDX BG videos)
Top 10 Dance Routines in DDR (not necessarily the in-game steps, but songs that have Para routines or such)
Top 10 Games Featured in DDR (Show 10 DDR songs which are taken from other non-musical videogames, and review the games, rather than the songs themselves)
Top 10 Memes in DDR (Songs which are either memes, or became memes on Nicovideo)

Good stuff Dr.D.
What i liked :
- The work around the video, with some 3D stuff and a voice even just to say "number 8" for exemple makes it more pro.
- The layout when you show a chart. Because you can have some bonus informations on it and that's nice.
- The fact that you play the chart at 2 different speed and with 2 diffrent arrows to make sure that most of people can see the chart how the like (also it helps for songs with slowdown).
- The commentaries were nice.
- Video editing with stuff related to ddr : me gusta.
What i think need some work :
- Sometimes your commentaries feelt a bit hidden by the song. Not because the song was at an high volum but because it seems that sometimes you weren't enough loud.
- Maybe you should had precise it was the single chart edition and not double (even if it was obvious after the first seconds).
- The "www.bandicam.com" bugs me. If you have trouble recording a game you should use MSI Afterburner : http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm
It's simple for recording something and you won't have a silly message around. Also it's free. Ah and, you could record some 60 fps stepmania video without ram issues at all (i could had ram problems with fraps but not with msi).
So overall, just minor things to change. Nice stuff. I subcribed like 3 years ago to you so i won't miss the other top 10.
GL HF with that
Ideas : - Most tricky song to PFC under 15 feet.
- Song name with most remixes.
- Best anecdote story around ddr (related to you or not).
