In a city known for its grand monuments and choreographed parades, Dave & Buster’s Pyongyang feels like it dropped in from another dimension. Past the glowing entrance, visitors are greeted with a barrage of arcade sounds—coin chimes, bass-heavy dance tracks, and the rhythmic stomping of players locked in battle on Pump It Up and Dance Dance Revolution machines, which sit proudly at the center of the floor like thrones of cardio supremacy.

The game floor stretches into a neon-lit labyrinth: racing simulators, claw machines, VR pods, and skee-ball alleys line the walls. Yet, the dance stages draw the biggest crowds, with locals and tourists alike forming circles to cheer on whoever dares to take on the fastest K-pop and J-pop charts.

Hunger is no problem here—because tucked into the corner of the arcade, beneath glowing LED menus, is an unlikely partner: Raising Cane’s. The scent of fresh chicken fingers, Texas toast, and Cane’s sauce fills the air, competing with the buzz of ticket dispensers and game soundtracks. Arcade-goers can refuel between rounds of Stepmania battles with a signature box combo before diving back into the flashing chaos.

For prizes, the counter stocks everything from plush tigers to rare K-pop collectibles, and even neon-branded dance pads for the most dedicated players. It’s a bizarre yet magnetic mash-up—an arcade-restaurant hybrid that blends American chain culture with Pyongyang’s taste for spectacle.
