Well shit. It was nice watching those fighting tournaments while it lasted. It was also nice having twitch for free on PS4 while it lasted.

The silver lining in the acquisition is that the twitch moderators will be forced to behave better.

The whole Google acquiring Twitch thing isn't really a huge surprise when there were early talks of it the other month. Typically when Google wants, Google gets. It really is a shame they play it that way. I wouldn't be surprised if they did this exclusively for the user base. I doubt very much that any similar service they could conjure up would compare to what already exists (such as the whole scenario with Google Video).

Although, I am still curious how they are going to carry this acquisition out. Google is pretty adamant with integration, but after the fiasco with Google+ integration with YouTube I wonder if they learned anything. My money is on no, but it should still be a good show.

As for me, I am just going to stick with Hitbox.tv. I find the player is much lighter on bandwidth and performance. Twitch's player takes forever to load on my connection and makes my machine chug away as if it were running Skyrim.

I must be the only one getting tired of the "Oh Google has Twitch, Twitch is dead" comments. Maybe they end up making it better? I'm at least going to give Google a chance before acting like that Twitch is a lost cause.

I'm sort of a skeptic when it comes to big business, particularly when it involves these sorts of acquisitions. Fortunately there's still plenty of good competition (unlike Canada's telecommunications market).

It probably could have happen if Google didn't acquire YouTube but under them there's been too much unnecessary change with layouts constantly being moved without notice. The latest one is how ratings are handled now. They can't be fully disabled on the full site anymore (not on the mobile version, for now). You can only disable the likes and dislikes bar but people can still vote on your videos.

It's...not that hard to obtain. I really don't see the negativity behind this

The negativity mainly stems from those who didn't have a G+ account prior. It just seems a bit odd to hold features that were once available to everyone until they created and linked a G+ account. It seems a bit of a waste as well when they may have no intentions of using the G+ account.

Personally, I'm selective with my online presence and social media has never been a big thing for me, so I wasn't too enthralled when I had to create a G+ account. I've got other services I use for social stuff, so for me it's just a stagnant account.

There's also that by forcing someone to get a G+ account, it strpis them of their anonimity, which although frowned upon (because it somehow it magically always causes bullying (even though it never does and I always want to punch someone when someone says it does)) is still appreciated because you don't necessarily want everyone to know everything about you by simply clicking someone's name.

Both the Facebook app and the Messenger apps are piles of barf, but I guess it's a good idea to keep piles of barf seperate instead of having them become a larger, singular pile of barf.
