I am geniunely interested in this game, not matter how much people whine about the new art style. It shows Konami is putting some serious effort behind this, and it may actually have a future in the US.
Check out my simfiles:
Pulsemix 1st Style (Currently being remastered)
Pulsemix 2nd Style (Complete, 25 songs)
Pulsemix 3rd Style (Ongoing, 19 songs)

Honestly, sounds like trash...

I applaud to Konami for making his own style and not copying the pop'n music graphic style, but I have bad feeling about its popularity ...and quality

OK, that's the only reason for me for buying this, Nekomata Master's music is my weakness, Damn you Konami, DAMN YOU!

I thought the art style was ugly at first, but then the initial shock of it wore off and I took a good look at it... and quite frankly, it's not that bad at all! Whatever, just my two cents on it!

Very Happy

EDIT - I also wanted to say real quick that I don't see this as a "US localized Pop'n Music". I see this more as a "Pop'n Music-like offshoot XBLA game thing that plays primarily with the 360 controller that is different enough to look different (blah blah blah)" and therefore, it's okay! Why NOT! Goodness. *tired* Laughing Out Loud I'm definitely not against trying new things.

EDIT 2 - Oh, and... *hi-fives amorite* Laughing Out Loud Someone's getting some user points from me! Puppy Face

I don't know why they feel like they can't release the real pop'n music here. That couldn't possibly do worse than this.

yay, user points! But really, imagine the enormous amounts of work that it would take to bring pop'n music over to the US. First, take a look at the songlist for Pop'n Music 15 ADVENTURE:

http://vjarmy.com/wiki/index.php/PnM_AC_15

Under "New Songs" and "Secret Songs," count how many english-titled songs there are. NONE! The entire game is J-Pop based- so bringing any Pop'n Music game over would essentially need a completely new songlist, unless you expect the average american gamer to be interested in hundreds of japanese songs (of which he or she cannot read the titles of Laughing Out Loud )

haha I gotta admit though, in that gameplay screenshot, it's hilarious that they named the mexican-looking girl in the disco area "Sakura" and... what's up with "Betty?!"

I don't know, maybe it won't be so bad. If they get a big enough response they'll have to continue with this series (hopefully with more downloadable songs or something). They seem to be testing the water with this and seeing if there's a lot of interest- and I don't think they're sure enough this will get a large enough response to bring the original controller over with an actual game disk. Beatmania was a disaster, so they'd probably be reluctant to rush into that again.

Hell, just be glad they didn't try to use disco and pop songs (like toxic and celebration) without any konami originals *cough*

We already get numerous J-Pop tracks on DDR, the titles of which are romanized so we can read them, thus the point is moot.

There's also no reason they can't customize the songlist for each region like on DDR.

We don't even see IIDX or GF/DM that often.

Oh wow, I am seriously looking forward to this.
Pop'n Music coming to the West, even in a new form is great news!

And just as DialBM said, Nekomata Master's music wins this over for me Puppy Face

I think I can already see how this is going to work amongst my XBL friends.

No one will get the game, some will notice that I have it, I'll get swamped with messages asking what it is/is it like DDR/how is it, and people will start downloading it. Same thing happened with Go! Go! Break Steady. However, it'll have to wait until I return from overseas.

Anyway, I agree with many in that the songlist is great, but the game's appearance makes me want to tear my fingernails off.

Couldn't you technically beat Endless Mode on some of the older versions of DDR by maxing out the score counter?
