Why do people use the bar so much?

So today I went to the movies to watch The Dark Night (good movie btw).

In the lobby, there is a DDR EXTREME.

Someone was playing CRASH! on Standard, using the bar! It's a 5 footer, why would you need the bar?

I can understand using it for the harder, faster songs, but c'mon! Are the DDR players this gen SO dependant on using the bar?

Crash is a fast song for some people. It might of been too fast for him and has having trouble playing.

I only use the bar if it's a 10 footer or hard 8 or 9, or if I'm about to die.

I've only seen people who aren't actually capable of playing hard songs use the bar on easy stuff like 5s.

I never use the bar. It takes all the fun away from me. I love to move my body around the pad, and with the bar it just doesn't give me that same feeling.

Why do people use it? Well, it helps stamina and balance I guess.

I only use the bar for balance, and I only use one hand. I've tried to use two hands, but I strain my back whenever I need to twist my body. I don't use the bar when I'm familiar with the song and it's lower than a 6 (special case: LOVE <3 SHINE)

I usually play DDR in home, so I CAN'T use the bar, because I got used to don't use it

I never use the bar when I go to the arcades, because its like a cheat way of winning, I was trained to do DDR without the bar, and thats the way that I'm going to keep it.

Seriously, at home I play without bar(obviously) and at the arcade I use it most of time, it helps me with the timing and greatly improve my stamina. But I'm working on playing without it recently, I can still AA quite easy 9s(Like AA and Can't Stop Fallin' in Love(Speed Mix), most 8s(No, Mondo Street is not an 8! Well not to me at least!) and most 7s too, but I still do a lot better with it. I don't think I would pass 10s without the bar, except Sakura(Istill play on a SN1 machine, Quebec ain't got SN2...) and Xepher. But at home, I can pass all 10s I have in a game except FAXXO, HDVO and FELMO(Yes sadly I seem to have a problem with Oni songs lol!)

I am not sure how long it had been... When I see it but when I see people playing DDR in the amusement, the bar generally used for style dancing (ie, he/she spin to the back of the bar to step the down button on Boom Boom Dollars Remix, etc....).

I think that was when 3rd or 4th mix became available then...

Anyway, I approve of bar usage. I use it a lot when trying to get AAA's/high scores. I've also started using it when playing fast songs on doubles. Otherwise, there's not much of a need to use it when free-styling, that is unless it's being incorporated.

The Bar still useful for everyone to playing DDR. Do you think is easy to jump crazily for FELM that have a lot of crazy jumps without using bar ? The Bar usually can be used for Freestyle dancing movement. Cheat way of winning if you using gameshark codes on DDR ARC and get AAA whatsoever you played.
