Oh, I didn't bought Diamond or Pearl for saving money for Platinum, because I always buy the 3rd version of every couple of pokemon games (excepting Yellow) because it is always better for me.PS: also because I love the new Shaymin

I still think they should of remade Gold and Silver, but go figure. I hate how they have to make a remake of Diamon and Pearl I mean wow.
But who cares.

I got Blue when it first came out, and actually became obsessed to the point of trying to get all of my Pokemon to level 100 legitimately (not that Missingno./Rare Candy crap).
...Now my interest only goes as far as Gardevoir and the female trainers.

Oh boy, Pokemon was the shit back then. I still remember how amazing silver was (anyone who says gold is better is a liar). Had like 180 hours into it with my lvl 98 Feraligatr and my lvl 95 Pigeot.

I stopped playing those for 4 years. Crystal was my last one.
Then lo and behold, I find someone being careless and left an Emerald cartridge on the ground about a year ago.
Now I play it whenever I'm seriously bored. There's probably no way in Hell I'm going to buy the new ones. I think that they were running out of ideas when they got to Diamond and Pearl.
The shows melt my brain the moment I hear it so I'd say it's a bad thing.
PS: Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald feature EXPLODING CAMELS.

I owned Crystal and Ruby, and "obtained" Diamond for my R4. Crystal was my favorite as far as storyline (16 badges!), I spent the most time on Ruby (420+ hours, owned every pokemon in the dex except event pokemon like Jirachi and Deoxys, all 6 main fighters lvl 100). I even got a second copy of Ruby, traded over a random lvl 65 pokemon from the first one, and completed the game up to the 7th gym, all so I could obtain a second TM27 (earthquake) to teach to Metagross.
Diamond was weird, but worth trying at least.
Also, Camerupt dies from the slightest water attack, so meh.

Yes I did like Pokémon when I was younger and in many ways I still do. The series still carries much charm even though it hasn't made any major leaps in it's style recently and in many ways it is almost the same as it was back in the days of Red and Blue, though this is typical of many Nintendo franchises and has been a safe and solid strategy for ages. Besides the basic Pokémon formula is good so why meddle with something which works perfectly fine and sells millions?
I began with Blue because it was all the shop my Mum bought it from had. I seem to have formed a system round this happening where I always buy the less popular (i.e. 'second') game of the two and then the third version which follows in the flow of: Blue --> Yellow --> Silver --> Crystal --> Sapphire --> Emerald --> Pearl, and probably Platinum after it's released as well.
I have no gripes about owning the less popular version and sometimes (in the case of Pearl) the less manly ones. It's not like the primary version has any particular advantages and is often easier to get hold of due to it's lesser popularity. Sometimes the star Pokémon of the lesser version can actually be slightly more useful than the more popular one (hell, Palkia has only one weakness next to Dialga's two) and one of my old friends near begged me to trade my Kyogre for his Groudon (Drizzle + Thunder owns all) which I kindly declined.
The physical/special mix up for this generation is definitely a welcome addition but in my opinion Nintendo should go one further and really rethink and restructure some of the old Pokémon movesets (both Infernape and Rapidash are physical fighters but the latter learns mostly special based fire type moves?).
...I'm also a shameless watcher of the TV animé. The better stories along with the interesting gym battles and tactical contests are actually quite fun to watch.

Pokemon is good; the show seems to have fallen into a slump to me, but in the game I just completed my pokedex! (I missed out on Darkrai, but I have everyone up to Manaphy) As for previous games, I played almost every game, but my sapphire disappeared and it had everyone except Deoxys; I was so sad...
