Comments | This song is a doozy. The original was written by Afghanistan singer Ahmad Zahir titled "Tanha Shodam Tanha," from his 11th album released in the 1970s. The song was then covered by a French Euro-Disco group named Bimbo Jet, under the song title, El Bimbo." Paul Mauriat then covered the song in 1975 as an instrumental arrangement. Then the "Police Academy," films happened to the song. And then Dancemania happened to the song. Ahmad Zahir would have been in his 60s if here were to come across a DDR machine playing El Ritmo Tropical.
This song has a lot of rhythmic variety crammed in 90 seconds that it's rather bleak that the doubles chart didn't implement anything outside of 8th notes. It's also unfortunate that the singles chart only sticks to one rhythm instead of spicing it up. So I did what I do best and highlighted the many rhythms throughout the doubles chart. It starts with the all-too-familiar triplets, followed by the accented downbeats, leading into the samba groove hanging in the background. It diverts a little to the upbeats on the high-hats before finally ending on the triplets.
