| Comments | [TYMA-003] This was my third round entry for the ZIV Tournament Of The Immortals (and therefore also my 3rd simfile). At this point I was in the knockout portion of the tournament, and drawn against Pie-kun, who is without a doubt, the best pure stepmaker in the community. As stupid as it sounds, this happy-go-lucky pop song is actually really important to me. It's one of those songs that means the world to you, without actually making you cry when you hear it. I don't even remember what the critera for this round of the tournament was, but I remember is that if I was going to make one more simfile, then it was absolutely, definately going to be this one. I don't like the idea of on-screen lyrics, but I felt this was one of the few songs where the lyrics quickly popping out of the screen in time to the emphasised bassline would add to the atmosphere of playing the song. The song cut is.. pretty ellaborate. It took over 40 changes to the original MP3 file, in order to change the order of the verses and bring out the bassline to prominance at certain parts of the song - Instead of writing steps to the music, I had a rough idea of how I wanted the steps to flow, and re-wrote the music to fit those steps. Super-mega-thank-you to Taronuke for bumping into me at Edinburgh Student Union, recognising me from the internet, and then taking an hour to sit at the bar with me, and try to explain the finer points simfile making and double-stepping, while I tried to sober-up enough to understand. I owe so much to this drunken conversation, that I can't even imagine what my simfiles would be like now, had it never taken place  |
