So, just FINALLY played this today.

-Video feels a bit weird compared to older mixes, and there's a few songs that feel an entire Great window late. 99% of the game is pretty well-synched at least, and this goes for the Extra Stages. I'd recommend using Dark if you don't adjust within 5 songs.

-The pads are freaking AMAZING.

-As forementioned, BRILLIANT 2U (AKBK Mix), TRIP MACHINE (xac nanoglide mix), and PARANOiA (kors k remix) are nowhere to be found on the tracklist. For some odd reason, I couldn't find IX either (under I or under numericals, or even in the event).

-You begin your day with a meter that has 9 empty slots. Every "A" you get in a score fills one of these - so "AA" will fill two chunks. When it's full - and you pass a final stage, you get to play EXTRA STAGE.

-EXTRA STAGE is broken up into 3 kinds of ES: "EXTRA EXCLUSIVE" includes songs you can *only* play as ES. These so far include New Century and RISING FIRE HAWK. There's "EXTRA SAVIOR" which is a set of 3 songs you can unlock by beating them in Extra Stage conditions. And once you "level up" Rinon (more on that next), there's Event Stages (including 2013s and 2014s*) that you can unlock simply by playing them on Extra Stage, and scoring enough points to fill up a meter associated with the song.

*While the seasonal events are still there in EXTRA STAGE, all of the regular EXTRA/ENCORE EXTRA stages and Replicant-D-Ignition stages are already available on the default DDR 2013/2014 tracklists!!

-Playing EXTRA STAGE 3 times will "level up" Rinon. This will cause more stages to become available in ES (for instance, adding RISING FIRE HAWK to EXTRA EXCLUSIVE); and at the end of every game, you'll get a three-block boost to your meter - so now you only need 6 "As" to fill it. Doing another four Extra Stages after that will level Rinon to L3, which will give you a NINE BLOCK BOOST. At this point, all you need for ES is to not fail the final stage. This boost ties to your E-Amuse account, and resets ~15 hours after your first game.

-About half of the new stepcharts feel very 4th Mix'y; and the rest feel very crossover-lovey. At least of the ones I played.

-I am a scrub that IMMEDIATELY played Bad Apple!! just because I could.

You guys should totally write a guide on these new games. Not that I checked the site for one at all, but y'know... it'd be nice to see something like that in the first post rather than read through 105 pages >___> Especially since I (still) haven't kept up since X2. Is this confirming e-Amuse in the US? Is it just for saving your profile, or are there internet unlocks/events? Do you need a card each time or can you just put in a pin number?

I just realized that due to the new grading system, it won't be as stressful to fill up the daily stars to get the Extra Stage, thanks to the new AA requirements. Yes!!!

Summary of some of the more important updates:

New song selection interface (it's more of a grid now, and you can use the up/down arrows)
Difficulty selection added after options
Timing windows/drifting fixed. Before you'd get random greats and perfects even if you step on time. Now people are getting MFCs like crazy.
Great scoring made slightly easier, and goods add to the score as well
New grading scale (AAA, AA+, AA, AA-, and so on until D+, D, and E)
EX Score is always shown on the results screen
Generic SN character routines back for all songs that don't have unique routines (like Dance Machine)
No Dancemania. At all. Well, excluding the 5 KAC remixes from X3 which are only available in Asia.

As for eAmuse, it is full eAmuse, internet, events, and unlocks. You need to scan your card each time and input your PIN.

Plus and minus grades? What is this, ITG? I really like that idea, though. (Wait, you can get a AA- for 89% now?! Does that still count towards Extra the same as a AA?)
Full eAmuse is amazing; didn't think we'd ever get that. Goods adding to score is... different. Makes sense, but there go all the score trackers!

You can turn off jumps on AC now? When did that happen? (I remember doing that on SN2 CS to get past NGO and the other jump-happy bastard bosses, and then finding I couldn't do it at the arcade and being sad. Or was that X2 CS? Whichever one had Dice Master Mode with that impossible beginner mission to SDP some slow Mexican song on 1x, that kept me from unlocking the boss songs).

No Dancemania is a right shame. Headdesk @ "Happy" being in the game, but it's about time they used songs that casuals know.

One thing I've noticed is that it seems unlocking progress in past events isn't being reflected in the US DDR A (at least for me). I managed to make some progress in the BEMANI SUMMER DIARY event last year (I have In The Breeze and Sounds of Summer on IIDX, and the website says I got Sakura Mirage on DDR), but the entire set of songs was marked as SEALED in Extra Stage when I played last weekend. I also checked the website (I have a JP Konami ID) and In The Breeze was not listed in the score data section (Sakura Mirage was, because I tried it in extra stage and failed). Maybe this is because I had no DDR play data last year, since DDR 2014 was never released here?

Guess we'll have to see if another Bemani wide event pops up (or if FLOOR INFECTION ever returns for DDR!).


IX must be unlocked. Check the 熱闘！BEMANIスタジアム folder while in Events during EXTRA STAGE (I know I saw it there).


Are there actually any features of DDR that are paywalled for US accounts? For my JP account, the workout play data stuff and song scores require the Basic Course (which I have for IIDX). Same with the option to put the combo count behind the arrows and having Fast/Slow indicators appear. Can't tell if the Rivals tab is paywalled or not, as the usual Basic Course indicator doesn't appear anywhere in that tab.

IX is in one of the Extra Stage event folders if you didn't unlock it for good in 2014.


DDR 2014 was stupid and you had to play a round of DDR 2014, before the end of Summer Diary, for the songs to unlock. So despite clearing Summer Diary via say IIDX/Gitadora/SDVX, you wouldn't have unlocked anything in DDR if you didn't login to a DDR cab on time.


Everything that requires Basic Course is the same regardless of your region. Adding/setting rivals does not require Basic Course.

Is VEGA on there? I tried looking for it when I played last weekend, but couldn't. Is that also an Extra Stage song?

So the new songs are the same as the US ones we got.
That's fine.

It's not.
But we still have Dancemania songs. The Oni remixes in MAX 2 come from Dancemania. And Let the beat hit em was recorded with Dancemania BASS vocalists.

For only DDR A stuff, yeah there isn't as much as previous mixes that are in the game, but they are going to add more (Extra Savior selection does say Vol. 1 after all). And if you add in the X3-2014 stuff, there's plenty of songs to explore, with many fun charts hidden away.

It's a liscenes that has been in the game for 3 years.
Newer liscenes usually last 3-5 years. Revivals last for 5-8 years.

Smooch is there.
The part I've noticed a lot of people forget is that playing with life 4 boosts the stars (well, they are more like half circle squares) by one. It helps get extra stage sooner, so long as you AA every song. Then, every time Rinon levels up, you get bonus stars. At level 3 you get 9 automatically, and even if you fail any of the extra stage songs (minus extra exclusives) you will unlock the song. If a song has a Challenge chart, you have to unlock the expert first to be able to play it. It's a good idea to use level 3 Rinon for unlocking harder songs like Nageki No Ki and IX Challenge.

As far as Dave and Busters is concerned, around happy hour they turn up the music that plays in the arcade so loud you can barely hear the machine, at the Irvine Spectrum location anyway. The manager was very polite and said he would turn the volume down, but it either never happened or was to little to notice.

Everyone I have had the pleasure of meeting was very polite, which was a fear I had about newer players.
