My friend keeps insisting that there are no 16-footers harder than PARANOIA survivor MAX Challenge. Neither of us have the skill to actually play 16-footers, so can some more experienced players name any 16-footers harder than PSMO, or just say where PSMO stacks up among 16-footers? Thanks!

Monkey Business , Pluto and MAYBE Trip Machine EVOLUTION are the ones that come to mind. Frankly, I think Monkey Business is the hardest.

I've always said PSMO should be a 17. There's no way that Trim or Max 300 SMMM Challenge are harder than it.

All should be 16. In fact I almost want to say SMMM is easier than PSMO. You at least get a good freeze part to fill up on life before the last wave.Post #11 · Posted at 2015-12-28 06:39:03am 8.3 years ago

Personal disclaimer that I'm basing how difficult a song is by how hard it is to consistently pass and to get a high grade on (at least based on personal performance). I've tried all the available 16's (Up to DDR X3's available song list at Round1 in Lakewood) and a few from DDR 2014's test location back in August, but I'll primarily focus on the available save for a few I recall that might be worth mentioning. >.> Also going to note, I am weak on streams that require constant double-stepping or are faster than 160 BPM 16th note runs.
Of the 16's, I'd say PARANOiA ~HADES~ is one of the harder ones, considering the how part of the chart is littered with jumps and several crossovers that leave one in few uncomfortable positions. There are also parts that generally send your feet around the corners of the pad like the stream 135th arrow onward or so, and the gallops during the 12th note runs.
TRIP MACHINE EVOLUTION is also pretty demanding at some points with the bursts, jumps, and the amount of double-stepping in the chart. 190 BPM 16th note bursts with double-stepping aren't exactly my favorite situations to be in. e.e" Can't even pass that consistently compared to other charts.
A few others I'll mention are probably the New York EVOLVEDs (mainly TYPE A) due to how the chart's layout not being too flowy, in some sense (but I haven't played any of them for a while, so I'm not confident on saying that). PRANA for the constant 16th bursts at 188 BPM that are sent toward ya'; though at least they aren't crossovers technically, so they're a little more manageable (?). Still taxing on the legs.
However, above all when I first read the thread, my immediate go-to for a harder 16 than PSMO was snow prism . I think it's because of how I remember choosing it because I recall seeing a video and thinking "Lol jacks". I was so wrong in so many ways. 196 BPM 16th note bursts coupled with several drills, heavy double-stepping on 8th note runs and jumps after jumps. My only thought half-way in to the end: "please, end, no more.."
So yeah, hope this helps in any way o.o" In fairness, PARANOiA survivor MAX is definitely up as the harder 16's to pass and to play well on because of how the step chart hammers you nonstop with 8th note runs with candles and crossovers interjected with jumps at 290 BPM. All the others came up to mind because personally, I find them as stamina-demanding, if not, more so than, as PSMO (for 16's at least) (P.S. Sorry for the long post again >.>)

My vote goes for Trip Machine Evolution . Personally, I'm pretty awful at patterns with lots of jumps, and while it doesn't have as many as the chart, the chart still has plenty, and add to that the sheer amount of double stepping/footswitches/candles/afronova walks/etc... it just makes it a hell of a chart. I can pass PSMO with a high B/low A, but I still can't even make it through Trip Machine Evolution .
Other notable mentions: Paranoia Hades (the jumps in the first half wear me out and I just get too tired by the end, usually score a mid-B on it) and Max 300 SMMM (there's some weird patterning right before that last death run and I always end up being stuck in some weird crossover position unable to recover without missing a couple notes).

So, the impression I'm getting is that PSMO is one of the harder 16-footers, but there are definitely a few songs harder than it. Thanks!

I'm a bit surprised nobody mentioned Triple Journey -TAG EDITION- That chart could possibly pass as a 17.

No mention of Nageki no Ki ? That's definitely a hard 16. I know the is and shouldn't be talked about.

true that, but it's a 16, not a 17. I'd say it's about even to PSMO
