LOL, that's pretty funny. I don't really have a problem with this, don't know why some people are complaining.
Because it's not Falco.

Because it's a character that has no business in being a playable character in a franchise such as Super Smash Bros. other than the fact that it's an ironic joke.

I'm not "mad" at her inclusion, as I do agree that there should be more ladies one can play as in the franchise. I'm just... dumbfounded... at the fact that a character like THIS was chosen out of the rest. Sure, it gets people talking (a yoga teacher in a fighting game would get anyone talking), but in the end, it just seems like a wasted spot in the roster that could've/should've gone to someone else.

Also: the main SSBU page has been updated to include Wii Fit Trainer. Screenshots and trailer included.

I don't mind, she's pretty odd being a choice on SSB4 to be honest (Just Like Phoenix Wright in UMvC3). BUT I like her Moveset so far! It's unique and she's the 4th female in the Smash series.Laughing Out Loud

Is it wrong that I think that Mario looks like he was made out of clay in the Wii Fit Trainer's introduction video?

Last week, Gematsu was tipped off about Nintendo’s E3 character reveals for Super Smash Bros. But since we were unable to confirm the validity of our source, we refrained from posting the information. Of the six characters we were told would be revealed, three have been confirmed: Mega Man, Animal Crossing Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer. The three left remaining are Little Mac, Pac-Man, and your Mii.

Wait, is this true? Or just a rumor?

Considering how Gematsu isn't a verified source of information, I would say that it's a rumor.
Or it's a lie they concocted earlier today just to get views onto their website.
No one knows about what's in this game except for Nintendo. And as soon as Nintendo tells us what's in the game, then we will know. Y'know?

I'm just gonna get my own two cents in about the WFT.

Personally, I like the creativity that went into designing the Wii Fit Trainer. Her moveset looks interesting and fun to play as (lots of fast hits it seems) from what we've seen, and it's another female to add to the roster.

And why shouldn't they include the Wii Fit Trainer? Wii Fit was an integral part of the Wii's time period as a console for a lot of family players (my family included) and she's not unlike other characters that we've received (Game&Watch comes to mind).

As for that argument, I don't see why not. Her "character" if you will is based in physicality and she adds a unique spin by using yoga poses to perform fighting techniques rather than a more violent approach. She's also unique, which is what I wasn't too fond of when we got Fox, Falco, and Wolf in one game with similar playstyles.

Also, let's not mince words here: SSB has never really been designed to be a "serious" fighting game. It's designed differently from games such as Tekken, Street Fighter, Skullgirls, etc. It's a game where you get together with friends and watch characters beat the stuffing out of each other, so I think the slightly silly tone of SSB encourages characters like WFT.

Again, just my $.02

In a fighting game, wasting a roster slot on a joke character is almost as bad as having a bad roster in general. There is no need to have this character in the game, other than "lol she's using yoga to fight". Whether the game takes itself 100% seriously or not, that doesn't excuse a poor roster/poor character choice. Budokai Tenkaichi 2 pulls this same BS by having Mr. Satan/Hercule be the worst playable character in the game, even with upgrades at maximum.

Now I KNOW. Mr. Satan/Hercule is a part of the show, he wasn't that great of a fighter in said show, and SSB isn't based off of one series. But does that excuse such a terrible character with this fighting game? No.

There are so many characters they could've used, let alone female characters. Why they picked this one out of the others is beyond me. But, it's a minor setback. Let's just hope they have one unexpected character that'll blow everyone out of the water here.

Don't put SSB in the same category as Street Fighter/Mortal Combat/Marvel vs. Capcom.

The only thing is... I don't understand how she's a joke character...? She's got a unique fighting style and a solid moveset from what we've seen.

You seem to have drawn this conclusion from the bit that we saw, and I'm not sure I follow your logic.

...are you the kind of person that plays Final Destination no items?

Haha, I can't believe some people are getting bent out of shape over the Wii Fit Trainer's inclusion. Get over it.

I can't wait to try her out. And seeing Mega Man there....ohhhhh my god.......it's like a dream come true.

A yoga teacher.
In a fighting game.
Yoga, something to help relieve stress and tension, to relax the mind and body
In a fighting scenario.

An ironic joke from the developers.
Of course, I should've elaborated on that, and I apologize for not doing so. I don't mean "joke" character as in "Dash Hopes 3" joke. I meant it as "the character being where it shouldn't be" setup. A comedian-esque joke.

I'm pretty sure the Super Smash Bros. franchise is built upon "the character being where it shouldn't be" ironic jokes. The concept of a fight between Snake and Pikachu in the middle of Hyrule is rather absurd when you think about.

I was surprised when I heard Wii Fit Trainer was going to be in the game. Judging from the trailer, she seems to be a good character. I doubt Nintendo would reveal her so early if her entire reason for inclusion was just a joke.
