I've taken this project down after considerable backlash. I've apparently angered the community on here. Links no longer work, reddit threads have been deleted.

As someone that has been playing this incredible game for nearly 15 years now, I had hoped to provide something cool, to show off all of the incredible work of the people here. I wasn't at all aware of the apparent policy of needing to ask a creator if their charts could be included in a pack before using them. I went through every conceivable effort to recognize and credit each and every single chart, at every single difficulty. I thought that would be enough for a passion project for a game that is the ultimate passion project for all of us. I was wrong.

Be kind to each other.

Would it be OK if I replaced some of the songs with their Japanese versions for my own personal enjoyment?

Great pack by the way, I see lots of bangers in the list.

Just wanted to report really quick, After LIKE has a sm for After School in it, that seems to change the song's title on some themes to After School.

I noticed when playing with these simfiles. The level types are mixed up. There are ITG and modern DDR level ratings. Are these intentional?

Will the people who actually made these simfiles get a cut of the ko-fi donations or are you just trying to profit off of those who did the real work here?

I know that you spent a lot of time on stewardship, but it's not commendable when you don't ask permission to include others' content.

Additions to the GrooveStats ranked pack list are extremely rare since mid-last year, when they equipped it to store leaderboards for any submitted chart hash. Compilations have an even slimmer chance.
Also, given that a lot of your pack is lifted from folks who already have an ITG community presence such as Highflyer and Lisek, it's already...partially...on GrooveStats...

I understand that you put effort into organizing a genre of songs to better your playing experience; however, I absolutely do not consent to the reposting of my files under the label of a community pack when I was not asked.

Furthermore, even though these simfiles are publicly available for download, that doesn't mean it's okay for you to repackage and republish them without asking for creator consent. Most people download packs assuming that the publisher made the charts themselves, or at least the charters actively participated in the creation of the pack.

Don't release compilation packs without step authors permission.
Don't edit other stepartist's files in any way, charts, graphics, videos, whatever, without permission.

You should immediately take this down.

I get you might have had good intentions and reading your original post I do believe you did this wanting to put something out there for people to enjoy but you have gone about this the entirely wrong way. Especially with the original link to donate there too; doesn't matter if you spent 300 hours curating this or making edits, you didn't ask if you could.

Take this down, start again and get in touch with the authors.

FYI I was never contacted about this either. Yes, for most files, the general rule is that redistributing or modifying the files is prohibited unless you have explicit permission to do so, and even if you do, they're probably still for non-commercial use only.

Also, I used to host my own pack that just contained all of my K-Pop files too, but eventually, I thought that using the genre tag functionality and grouping songs in-game that way was a better solution. Not saying there is no place for packs like this, though; it just needs better execution.

As for your edit to the first post, quick response is that I think people for the most part do believe you had good intentions compiling all this stuff and you weren't deliberately setting out to be malicious, but you need to understand people spend hours and hours making this content and for it to be taken without permission, possibly edited with no explanation as to why or what was changed, with no promotion of the stepauthors packs or works they came from, is just a sucky feeling.

I didn't have any files in this project of yours but I've had my stuff appear in SM packs all over the place, YouTube compilations of pop song packs and I spot my own stuff and it just feels gross y'know? Imagine you spent all that time making something for me to yoink it, change bits of the chart or re-do your graphics, and re-release it into a pack without you even knowing. And then posting a ko-fi link alongside it.

It's not THAT deep and I think you should just apologise rather than leave that original post as is as it's kind of guilt trippy. You mention how you credited every charter, but what if your adjustments made it worse in the original authors eyes? What if they're not happy with the new output that you've now attached their name too? All these things you just didn't consider and it's for that reason and more that people weren't happy to see their name attached to this.

Just get permission next time, work with people instead of around them.
