Interesting; it works exactly like IIDX Infinitas, where you need to start the game from a website before you can launch it. I'll give my first impressions once I've played it a bit.

I'll kinda miss the HTML5 version because that was easy to set up and play (and could've been fixed and improved upon), but at least now it's in line with all the other Bemani PC games. Konami faces a very uphill battle convincing people to not play Stepmania, though. >>

Options when you start after selecting a style are in order: Premium, Basic, Free Play, and Cancel. In other words, it's probably gonna work like SDVX on PC where you'll have to pay with tickets or something to play the juicy content. Sigh.

I'm honestly surprised this game has an extra stage system in the alpha! Only 3 "points" to access it (Upon further inspection, the max amount of points you can get is 3. You still need 9 for ES. The usual suspects of playing with LIFE4/Getting a Full Combo/Getting a AA or better still help! ) ... which I haven't yet, because I'm getting used to the timing. XD

I just uninstalled, so I can get some space back on my hard drive, but my first impressions are that it's obviously a big upgrade over the HTML5 version; step zone doesn't give you much feedback when you press an arrow, but default timing basically felt more strict than Stepmania. If anyone plays the game with a dance pad, let us know if it feels like the newer AC versions!

I'm gonna be really curious to see how well this gets received, especially when the full version comes out. Like I said, Konami is competing with a program on PC that not only has a lot more customization, and don't have to pay-per-play, but also has very easy access to fanmade DDR simfile recreations.

Infinitas is able to get away with it because official IIDX simfiles are super hard to come by now, and ditto with SDVX PC and finding official simfiles for that game to play with KSM.

Btw, here's an image of the new dance pad; kinda looks similar to the RedOctane dance pad I used to have as a teen. XD
