Eddie got an update from Round 1.

Apparently the location test won't be DDR 2015 but DDR 2014 (duh), however it is a LOCALIZED English version made specifically for the US. No information yet as to whether or not some license songs were removed as well as exclusive content, but the good news is that they will be played on the white Japanese cabinet version.

I wouldn't expect any new licenses since this is a location test. However, if we get an actual release, I would expect X2-esque licenses, maybe some more mainstream ones thrown in as well.

I hope while DDR 2014 is at PHM, it does very well. If it does, then maybe half of my dream could come true. (The other half is Round 1 opening a location in Houston.)

It's great that PHM is getting DDR 2014 in a localized version (on a white cabinet, no less!), but I really hope it will somehow come to the Moreno Valley location soon; I can't say anything about the other DDR machines in the other locations (I only know that the original 3 locations have at least one DDR machine), but the X2 machine there is almost unplayable, sadly. >>

Regardless if it's a location test, it would be awesome if we get some more eAmuse games here as well (like Tsum Tsum), let alone more Bemani games. >>

Europe probably aren't ever gonna get this, but I can dream.

Approximately nobody asked for this song to be included. Least popular decision by the Japanese since Nintendo released the Wii U.

Eddie has confirmed that e-AMUSE will be part of the DDR 2014 location test. It also looks like the test will be held in late July but could slip into early August depending on issues with getting the machine over from Japan.

OMG it's finally happening!! I was right all the way! I would expect X2/HP3/UM2/3-esque licenses, maybe some more mainstream ones thrown in as well as covers from SAIFAM too.

Its most likely gonna have the same as DDR2014 has currently.

I'm happy there's going to be a DDR2014 location test! Now I just hope there will be arcades willing to upgrade

If you're going, make sure you thank Round 1, by making sure you buy their food, drinks, and throwing money at other machines. They won't care so much about how many credits are in DDR at the end of the location test, as how much money the people who play DDR spent in the rest of the arcade, and most importantly, how much extra money the arcade as a whole made while DDR was there, compared to what they make when DDR isn't there.

Also, don't spend much time scrolling through menus, or selecting a song. arcade operators really hate seeing games where players stand around, not doing anything.

Um. What? You seriously think they're going to look at their whole operating revenue and use that as the deciding factor as to how well DDR did? Not the direct money that was inserted into the game?

Of course they are. The machine being popular during the location test will only mean that a lot of people travelled to their arcade specifically to play it.

The important statistic is how much money DDR generates for the business. If people travel to the location test, hang around for several hours and put 3 credits into DDR, then they make 3 credits. If those same people hung around for 3 hours, buying food and drink in Round 1, and spending money on other games while waiting for their turn on DDR, then those are the kind of people the arcade will value most as their customers, and those customers came because DDR was there.

And how do you suggest they account for these metrics? Do they have people following DDR players around with little notepads, writing down what they buy and what games they play? That wouldn't work; there will be too many players and it's fucking creepy. Are they gonna look at sales overall? That wouldn't work either; intelligent people know that correlation does not imply causation, and thus an external factor may have been the reason for their increased sales. Did you also see how other games will be arriving as well? Even if they did look at their sales compared to last year or a previous weekend or whatever, they have too many independent variables to say definitively that DDR was the reason.

So what you're saying is... the machine being popular during the location test brought people to the arcade? That's the point. The money DDR made is a perfect metric.

There's one question that I want to know about that's not being talked about. Will eAmuse/PASELI be required to play this game in the US? If so then there's no way this game is going to anywhere but Round 1 locations and would likely ax any chance of any upgrade kits for any older machines.

I really do hope this location test ends up working and we get DDR back in the US and it's not IIDX GOLD all over again. Confused

Eddie has confirmed that e-AMUSE will be part of the DDR 2014 location test.

I'm pretty sure there's no problems with running eAmuse in America at least since that's something Round 1 already does. And pretty much every song unlock is tied to eAmuse... I think this is why the eAmusement website went "global" actually.

So, we're pretty much getting everything that Japan got back again, even though PW is down?
Even though I live in Europe and the nearest machine near me is an Euromix 2, that is INSANELY GODDAMN HYPE.
