DEADLOCK XXX
ROFL WHAT
I literally have a WIP file for DEADLOCK XXX that's been sitting around for months. I guess this is a good excuse to finish it.
also it's not a pretty file at all
p.s. I'm really disappointed that Spork! didn't finish Scharfrichter in time. I was actually really looking forward to playing it!

I am sorry. Ended up picking up 20 extra hours and had a trip planned I couldn't bail on. I'll try and get something made eventually.

Oh well, I want to buy myself in again using my 2nd veto lol.
If the offer is still available, I'd like to take advantage of it. Missing another week would kill me

Alright, ddrstepper traded one veto for a backup file. Good luck, both of you.
Twelve files remain in the backup pile.
To the uploader of Karenzuki: yes, that's the correct romanisation.

VOTES + QUICK COMMENTS
+5 Chototsu Moushin Girl [Loodee]
Not my favorite file of yours, but it's still very enjoyable.
+5 2008 [Dreamland200]
To be honest, I actually thought this was pretty bland, and it didn't really follow the music as well as it should have. I also wasn't a fan of the jump-step-jump patterns scattered throughout and . ZED was certainly a lot better than this. Still, there's only three files I can give points to and, well, I really really did not like Electrodynamix at all.
Electrodynamix [MRace2010]
I really really did not like Electrodynamix at all. The sheer amount of "jumpspam" in this file is not fun to play. In a few rare cases, having a lot of jumps in one section is fine, but that's really only if the song is really intense. Even then, to make almost the whole file like that? It's really not fun at all. Electrodynamix doesn't even sound intense enough to justify that kind of jump usage in the first place. This would have made for a decent X-Scale 13. The 15 and 16 that you made are just way too hard for this song. The lower difficulties for this file don't play out much better, either.
And just piling on top of the already problematic steps are the BPM gimmicks. What is the purpose of this song being stepped at 254 BPM? And then doubling that to 508 BPM halfway through?!? I just can't hear anything in this song that really justifies even doubling the BPM at any point in the song, nevermind essentially being quadrupled at the end. This song does not have the kind of pounding in-your-face beat that something like, say, a speedcore song would have. Stepping the entire song at 127 BPM and maybe halving the BPM when the bass kick stops would have made a lot more sense.
Sorry to say this, but Electrodynamix was really a huge step down from Red Lights.
TOTALS
Chototsu Moushin Girl [Loodee] - 5
2008 [Dreamland200] - 5
p.s. Funny story, Loodee, I was actually planning on submitting Retro City for Round 5 as well but swapped it out with Rainbow Road at the last minute.

To be honest? I honestly saw this coming. I know that this is not going to give myself a good impression, but I honestly was lazy with this one, first because I started it much later than the previous files and also because I didn't want to step at all. So I came up with the jumpspam + bpm gimmick idea and...I made something and then it turned out bad. That's why I also wanted to take a break from this.
I really appreciate the extensive feedback you gave for this song and the fact you were completely honest about it, so thank you very much ^^.
Oh well, it's not the end of the world. Next time I'll come with something surely better than this
there's actually another reason behind this but I can't say it now

I had WAY too much fun with this chart. So many rhythms. Such Chatter! Almost makes me want to strip down and join my marine mammalian friends.
Anyways, I was hoping for some dubstep this competition, so glad I finally got some. No real gimmicks, just "simple" straightforward shenanigans. Background image used provided by my ladyfriend who specializes in sea artwork.

+5 Love Again [Gameoson]
Ok, so this song kind of sucks and doesn't at all make for an interesting chart. Still, you did well with what you had and kept the patterns varied, can't really ask for more. I'm personally not a big fan of the spins/270 degrees turns, but they aren't too bad either and make some sense. However, I do think that the song itself is terrible to try to chart, which ultimately leads to a mediocre playing experience, even with the accurate charting (the 16ths-24ths thing was pretty neat).
Basically - Solid steps, boring song.
+4 Electrodynamix [MRace2010]
Not sure what to say about this file. I don't completely agree with Gameoson that the jumps are that bad. In fact, I liked them for the most part. The main thing is that it gets very repetitive and there are better/more accurate ways of stepping the parts without using just jumps on all of them. The song is pretty good and has lots of potential, which seems wasted by using so much jumpstream. Mixing crossovers for the melody with jumps when the drums allow for it would make for a more interesting and probably more fun chart. Still, I did have fun with the file, the rhythms were pretty good and fun for the most part, and I like the fact that you tried giving the file some kind of character. I can hear what the jumps go to and while I think the accenting is quite inaccurate at a lot of spots, it's nice to see an attempt at following the sounds with distinctive patterns. I probably would have rated this higher, if not for:
The bpm. Gameoson pretty much said what needs to be said about this, but I'll do it as well. The song screams 127 bpm, I have no clue why the base bpm is double the usual for an electro song like this. This wouldn't be that big of an issue normally, since you would just adjust the scrolling rate (at most it might look ugly and be a slight inconvenience to people with few speed mods in their sm themes), but the 500+ bpm speedup is just nonsensical and weird. Even in stupid Konami charts like Fascination MaxX I hate the speedups, but at least then the song (kind of) warrants it. In Electrodynamix, I can just barely hear why there was a bpm change at all. As a general rule of thumb, unless you are a fan of Konami charts or like to read at 200~ scrolling speed, be very, very careful with bpm doubling in shorter parts of the song just because the song sounds "intense". It is almost never necessary and easily frustrates players
Shorter slowdowns are completely different things, for example, this song can be good with slowdowns, but not using them would probably be about just as good.
The bpm topic for this song in summay:
A pity since I actually kind liked parts of the actual steps.
+1 2008 [Dreamland200]
This song had more potential than what was shown here. It's pretty much just 8th stream with a few 16ths and jumps occasionally, kind of like a harder chart that has been watered down for an easier difficulty. The only things I found fun in the file were the jump-step-jump patterns (that Gameoson disliked lol), but even so, I felt like most of it was very lazily charted, not stepping the rhythms nor melody as accurately as it could have been.
Totals:
2008 [Dreamland200] - 6
Chototsu Moushin Girl [Loodee] - 5
Love Again [Gameoson] - 5
Electrodynamix [MRace2010] - 4

Oh, thank you too for the long review ^^
Oh yes, my previous post explaining why the chart was bad and yadda yadda is total bullocks. I actually wanted to steps the files but the reasons...well...I wasn't really proud of admitting them.
For the jumps I wanted to try something new but the bpm...er....you see...
(Hint: look at the scrolling speed of the level. I wanted to replicate the scrolling speed with the bpm changes.....I learnt the lesson from this ;-;)
but I'll totally remake this in the future. The song is just lovely

Well, managed to complete my files this week. It's nice to got a music that you already used to listen. Not really have time for Extra Diffs. I think the Expert chart should be a Challenge with that kind of steps. Don't expect this steps going to be awesome and if it's awesome for you, good. Votes are posted later.

Hello, it's my vote time
NOTES
2008 - I'm going to agree with Loodee for the fact that more could have been done for this. It's a song that, if stepped in the right way, can actually shine but the way you did it was kind of lazy. The steps for the most part were repetitive and some beats of the songs were ignored for a constant speed stepping, which is a shame. The only different things I saw were the jump+arrow+jump sections and the ending, which are not bad actually. The ending part was my favourite indeed and it's a shame that you didn't give the rest the same effort on the steps. To summarize, the steps are not bad but more could have been done
Chototsu Moushin Girl - I...can't properly review a 12, sorry. I would not understand anything of the chart and land dead anyway so I hope you'll understand if I give you a review of standard and a quick comment of heavy. Well, leaving aside my hate for vocaloid songs, the steps are actually good. I had fun dancing at them for the most part but there were points where it was odd to dance to. In the first sections I didn't feel the yellow-red-yellow sequence and some of the freezes and the ending sections seems to suffer the same fate of 2008 in general with a generalization of the rhytms. Still some parts were extremely enjoyable (the jumps after the little breaks <3) and overall it's fine. For Heavy...not really a fan of lyric stepping, but it's nice too.
Electrodynamix - So if nobody votes this +1 then it will have even LESS points than Ijiwaru na Hello. The fun fact is I can't play that chart anymore because of a banner/background error so yay
Love Again - Technically what I have to say is exactly the same as Loodee's review, so I don't even know if I have to add something aside from the fact I applaud you for making solid steps for such a bleeeaaah song (at first I thought he didn't even veto this, why? Then I realized you already spent them both XD).
VOTES
It's a scandal I have only 10 points. People, submit <.<
