This came to my mind because I'm sick of seeing removed media or replaced audio on YouTube.

WMG = Warner Music Group
They've been somewhat hostile to the Google/YouTube community. All I see in most obvious vids being removed is any song by Metallica, Motorhead's Ace of Spades (with an exception to covers and live performances), Dragonforce's TTFAF, and more.

Anyways, why would Konami do like WMG would do to YouTube anyway? Just making money. I'm surprised they don't remove In the Groove videos (especially when they involve hacking) ever since they acquired ITG.

Oddly, they only seem to do it on Empress videos. Shortly after Empress was released, someone leaked the hidden songs on YouTube, which caused Konami to begin removing all Empress stuff on YouTube. But they've not touched DDR X, Pop'n 17, or GFDM V6 stuff as far as I know.

I have gotten 1 movie removed by WMG. Not muted, removed. I used the Team America: World Police theme in one of my movies. I've resubmitted it with out the song and I've yet to have a problem.
The story is YT and WMG had a deal that WMG would get some much money for each view of there content. Well about less then a year ago, WMG wanted more money for each view and YT told them no, So WMG is removing videos.
If anyone can tell me who The Orchard is, I love to know.

I understand copyright but on a totally NON-PROFIT site surely getting people exposed to your music can only be a GOOD thing? More people hear it, more people might want it. YES there is a good chance they will just get the music illegally but there is also a chance that someone might buy your music when they previously wouldn't and that means MORE MONEY for you. WMG are just greedy like most record companies. They cannot control illegal downloads so they are being petty to other organisations which they do have some influence over. Some fat bigwig sitting in a huge leather chair somewhere probably thinks demanding more money from Youtube and blocking all music if they don't comply is a very clever move. These people obviously don't live in the real world.
Welsh singer Duffy has personally stated that she doesn't care too much about illegal downloads because she thinks it's mostly done by people who cannot afford to buy a lot of music. I also think as an artist she probably cares more about the idea of lots of people being exposed to her music than how they are getting it. She's in it for the music and NOT for the money, I doubt her record company would agree though...
I can partly understand Konami wanting leaked or new game footage removed so that it isn't spoiled for those just about to purchase it. Older stuff... less so.
So yeah... WMG is just acting petty and foolish. In my opinion they are only encouraging piracy because people aren't going to be eager to hand over money to a company who are stingy enough to care about them using a two minute clip of their music in a Youtube video.

yeah, that's like, if someone breaks into my apartment to use my bathroom and bed while I'm at work, I shouldn't care, I mean I'm not there using anyways, right? Why not let someone else use it? I can't be all petty by locking my door everything single time I leave.

Nice argument, you should send it to WMG. They probably won't read it, but it's worth a shot, and it's pretty true if I say so.

I uploaded a video of me playing THAT'S THE WAY (I LIKE IT) on Sunday and I already have 45 or so views on it with a rating of 5. Let's see how long it takes for it to be removed. I give it a week.

I've had about half a dozen muted as a result, including a few PwrMixes and Zmixes. In fact, one of my subscribed channels had an entire hit-free MegaMan run muted for using - get this - A WHOPPING 15 SECONDS of a WMG-owned song. Not even an entire verse! Not even at the start or at the end, either. I can understand broadcasts that include the majority of a song, but DAMN. -That- is petty.
I say we boycott the mf'ers.
(Then again, I think Shuki Levy caused a stir about GH2 hacks featuring the theme to MMPR, as well. Boycott that shit too.)

The only way to boycott is to avoid their products with their label on it. They're not gonna care if only a few people don't like what they're doing.

Nice argument, but your premise is wrong. Youtube is not a non-profit site. Sure, you don't profit from uploading, and I don't, but look at the site for once. See all those ads? Yep, Google profits from everything you and I upload. In addition, whether a site is for profit or non-profit has no bearing on copyright law.
Oh yeah, and boycotting isn't really feasible, unless you stop buying music almost entirely. WMG is huge, and most music labels are subsidiaries. Products aren't easily identified as being from a subsidiary of them, but they still profit.

Uhm, but I'm sure if she stopped getting paid she'd have an up roar about it. She has bills to pay. And to say that illegal downloading is done mostly by people who can't afford to buy a lot of music is a joke. It's a privilege, you don't HAVE to have music. There's always the radio. There's a TON of free internet radio sites. There's a TON of artists who put their music out for free as it is. If you download music illegally, it's stealing, plain and simple. Downloading simfiles of official DDR songs for Stepmania is stealing, shocking, but true. But I have a clear conscience with it because Konami could file suit but they haven't and they won't because it's beneficial for them as it's free exposure and if anything, it's made DDR MORE popular.

Semantics time.
I wouldn't call it stealing; It's pirating. Stealing is taking away property without permission. Pirating is copying data without permission. There's a difference.
JUST SAYING

I would thought saying "no" would lead to a lawsuit from the Google community, but I see why both YouTube and Warner are playing it safe.
