It sounds like a good idea. Are there any pictures of the cabinet at the moment?

Really excited for this, but it looks a lot more like a J-RPG though.
Here's hoping this gets an iOS port soon enough.

If it utilizes a 'wide touch panel', then this will easily be ported over to iOS either Late 2014 or Summer 2015.
Well can't really tell what and how this game is going to play like (why do I have a feeling this may have gameplay similar to CROSSxBEATS and DJ MAX?), but pretty excited to see another BEMANI game being born

This sounds great already, but with all of these new bemani game entries that have been going on the past few years...I wonder if they are going to "the final" one of the older games soon.

Here's all the information I could get from BEMANIwiki using my limited Japanese:
-The producer is DJ YOSHITAKA.
-The judgement line is an octagon; notes come from 8 directions. (like maimai?)
-The judgements are FANTASTIC, GREAT, FINE, and MISS.
-There are six types of notes:
--Normal Note
--Simultaneous Notes (two or more at a time)
--Hold/Long Note
--Ripple Note (i couldn't get a translation, but it's like REFLEC's 3-TOP)
--Slash Note (you flick it)
--Stream Note (you slide it)
-Clearing is like IIDX and pop'n's gauge. You start at 30%, and clear the song with a gauge of 70% or higher.
-The gauge is expressed as a ring in the center of the screen.
-The maximum score for a song is 1,000,000 points, like jubeat.
-The difficulties are Basic, Medium, and Hard, but Hard was not available to be selected at the location test.
-The highest chart was rated an 8, but it is unknown how high the difficulty meter goes.

Oh great we're getting another DJ YOSHITAKA-produced game.....I hope the game will contain Konami original songs.

Mieya has a report on the location test with a simple diagram of the game interface and songlist here:
http://mieya.net/backnumber/2014/topics20140124.html
So far the only Konami originals are ちくわパフェだよ☆CKP, and Miracle Halloween by Sana.

Yoshitaka did not produce Reflec Beat. He's the director for it.
Yoshitaka did produce Sound Voltex II, so he has that.

So, like Sound Voltex, BeatStream looks like another doujin-based music game. With that in mind, I expect to see quite a lot of events happening between this and SDVX. Nothing wrong with another touchscreen based music game, I'd say.

This does look interesting.
I'm in Osaka at the moment and I've got a couple of days left on my JR Rail Pass, so I might go to Tokyo today and give it a gander.
I'll post some pics if I manage to get some.

Not official, but daja77 has created a speculative gameplay video of BeatStream in an 8-bit/NES style.
A note from this new location test:
BASIC has been renamed to LIGHT, and HARD has been renamed to BEAST.

Based on that 8-bit video, the game seems like it's basically Reflec Beat but on a circular track. Talk about lackluster, man. They haven't made a new series that did something special since Sound Voltex, and even then it still borders on being a modified Beatmania.

A LOT of pre-release info is coming in.
Some BEMANI crossovers revealed with other perfect quality screenshots from 4gamer:
JAE2014 Interview with DJ YOSHITAKA
JAE2014 Interview with the designers
Here's a vine of someone playing Cirno's Perfect Math Class. (note: vines are only five seconds long)

longer gameplay footage (now with sound and lineout) starts at 19:53 (also lol at 21:28)
It looks like even the Reflec Beat KAC champions can't sightread clear this new game.
