[SM5 Theme] Session '09 -Chronicles- (Updated 3/31/2015)

OMFG AN UPDATE WHAT?!!

Once upon a time, Konami teased what could have been the greatest DDR title ever created. Unfortunately, it got swept under a rock and traded for magic beans, until the arcade developers came across it, and touched it up to make X2. But the infamous "DDR 2009" still remained a source of legends, speculation, and eventually disappointment. And now, with the help of StepMania 5, IT LIVES!

Some behaviours and elements have been retconned from X2 and Universe (since this is what it ultimately evolved into, it seems), some have been touched up for the sake of quality, and some are just speculative since the trailer did not reveal enough to be useful. But most of it is what DDR 2009 could have looked like. And that's good, right?

Known bugs
* The style carousel is a little finicky when it comes to how it dims out inactive options
* The carousels can't loop around naturally
* Lifebar isn't aligned with the scoreboard on 4:3
* Double is broken

To-do list
* Sub-themes/tattoos (Depends on how hard it'd be to implement. Though it seems like it might not be as hard with SM5. Anyone care to help?)
* Clean up the transitions
* Bit more sound effects
* Full Combo animations/recognition on gameplay and results screen
* Show high scores next to difficulties
* Add more mode support (right now it only supports standard play)
* Other fit and finish

My reaction exactly.

Mmmm the theme of DDR 2010 for Xbox 360 never released.

Except for the little arrow things next to the middle song, and seeing if we can get machine scores listed in the right spot, this screen is pretty much done.

Pretty cool! It would be neat if you added the ability to set a theme, similar to how it was in the trailer.

With the Lua controls in SM5, it can be done. I've got the logistics for such a thing laid out, I just need to find the time to do it. Prepare yourself for a 100+ MB theme though.

Also, in other news, I'm working towards gameplay!



Getting that "shine" effect on Marvelouses might be tricky, but I think I roughly got similar animations going for all of the judgements.
