Hmm, my edits still got delayed by one measure. PanStyle, what did you do to circumvent this? I think I need to do that manually. Also, not high priority, but if you can try to put a stepchart viewer to see what will be generated. Also the web editor starts at measure 2, so perhaps the first measure have to be ignored, as in DDReditMAX2 (I deleted 1st measure because ZIv files start one measure late, then export to DDReditMAX2 and it worked fine, started reading from the first measure)

I think I had one thing to add but I forgot, I'll add later.

APPEND: Oh yeah, please add error handling Big Grin
Also, option to skip confirmation and the first message box about internet connection, I think it should be only for first run.

Yeah, I looked into the issue and realized that my last update on Saturday did not include the latest .dll library I had compiled. I released another version with the proper .dll library, this compensates for the 1st ignored measure.

I also removed the alert about the internet connection and I just check for one, if it's not there, I give a warning.

Thanks for listening, I hope I'm not being annoying by asking this much Oops

Now I'm gonna check, but I can't do the testing since I'll be away, quite far. I'll ask my friend to do this.

Not at all, all of your suggestions have been good suggestions. I would be a fool to not implement what people ask for Smile

Daiz, is it possible to have a tickbox to save a local copy of the XML? I'd find that handy because I can use the viewer offline.

Phew, what a relief. Thanks for being a good listener though, I'm kinda a perfectionist and I don't want to enforce it to people.

Sweet, UI update. To fill in some space, I think you can add the predefined comments to the "Conversion Options" part.

And holy smokes, Library Manager's in? whoops, still not working :s
My suggestion is to include a zipping library with SimPhony, then SimPhony will zip all the files, send it and receive a DAT file.

For this, I suggest this:

In the Library Manager, it would have a "saving directory". You can have multiple libraries on the first list (can add/remove AND be named), which if you click one of them, it's contents would be displayed in the next list. Add/remove to that list, then Export will generate DAT file into the saving directory with the library name. Note that we need to save our own list.

APPEND: "sinkless ship CANDY", pft Laughing Out Loud (well, a literal translation...)

Hey, if you switch application while it's generating DAT file, the "Save As..." dialog box still shows up behind, or didn't make any sound/notification. Care to fix this? One of the way to tell this is by clicking on the progress dialog, in which it will not respond if Save As dialog box is already opened.

OR

maybe just ask for the location to save in the main form, just like the way you ask for the input file. Then SimPhony would just notify user with "Done!" message box.

minor typo on LibraryManager's window title

What did you use to compile this?

lol I'm using C# in Visual Studio 2010, but I'm coding it pretty quick. The core was literally put together in a single day.

Brazen: do you want to inspect the entire XML request sent or just the step data?

Silverhawke: Yeah the library manager will pretty much keep a master list of all edits that you create and allow you to compile them into a .DAT file for use on the arcade machine without using the online library manager. You will be able to add and remove edits in libraries and name the libraries for your own use.

I also have to ask something:

In early DDR games (like all the songs in 1st 2nd and 3rd Mix and I THINK 4th) the charts 'start' late (as in, timed with the "Ready" to "Here we go" captions ingame) and I don't think ZIV's corresponding simfiles start on the matching offsets (unless ripped from the SSQ and kept consistent with ingame offsets) so how would one get around that?

Can't remember if you can delete bars from the snail-pace web editor or not, haven't used it in ages.

Either, really. Whatever is easier for you? I'll zip up a package that allow you to view the .XML's offline.

The only way I can think of is to have a PS2/PS1 game (or online editor) at hand and check it out there. Then you adjust your measure offset accordingly. Except for OFFICIAL X2 files, they are all late by 1 measure. The song always starts at the second BPM change (2nd measure).

I really don't get the "late by one measure" stuff that some of you said.
I mean, i did more than 10 edits for the arcade and it happend only once (red zone) that the file on zenius was early from one measure compared to official data (webeditor or PS1/PS2 game).

About measures ? Nothing special.
When i read this with the phone this morning i trought you were talking about my freeze/quad tests.

Also i like your ideas Silver. But i hope that Daiz will fix the 12th first before doing the library manager (i mean, more stuff you do, more stuff you have to test and debug).

Oh and i'll try the new version right now. I'll make the same test than yesterday and report what happend.

I'll play a song with hands this weekend for sure (i have an old edit of Flight of the Phoenix with hands, mines, 16th) I just hope to have the corect measure offset ^^'
Also, i don't have to remove mines on the .sm because the editor or your convertor skip it.
I also find that any measure with a 12th/24th/else get skipped. Is it your converter doing this ? (i tried some stuff. Who knows if some glitch can occur xD).

PS : Funny how every member on this page have a +2 from me and it's not new at all.
I should change those ratings, because i like how you helps the community guys Smile

@PanStyle

It was like that because I wasn't aware that Daiz haven't replaced the DLL.

So it was like this:

ZIv sims for X2 files are one measure late than it should (most files have silence on the first measure)
1st measure isn't editable
Online editor skips first measure (starts from 2nd)
SimPhony reads the whole sm file and sends it whole
Online editor starts reading it from the beginning, including the (should be skipped) first measure, which causes the file to be delayed by 1 measure.

A quad means beginning of a 12th data, as Daiz pointed out. And 24th and mines and anything else should be skipped, because the parser can only handle 4th, 8th, 16th and 12th. (not even shock arrows)

I dunno about 4 freezes at the same time, I guess it may be possible or may be it won't, but hands during two freezes is possible (tested this with my Freeze edit)

Hmm ok. Like i said, anything involving 4 arrows work BUT the 4 arrows MUST NOT start at the same time.
So a real quad like the first in Anubis won't work.
But the part right after will.
Check here : Anubis feat Kon
Btw mines doesn't skips the measure, the editor or converter just act like they aren't here (so that's good you don't have to edit out your mines if you have some in your edits).

Bug happend : Can't load a challenge/oni chart (called expert in the converter). "No step data found" if i try to generate the .DAT.
(i tried with official files and with mines. Some of them have expert only other have every difficulty. Maybe there is a typo on a name when you load ?).

Possibly, I may have a typo in the code when loading Expert data. I'll check it out tonight

Woot. Ok the first full version is out with 12th note support, I fixed the freeze arrow bug and I included the Inspect button option to save the XML for Brazen Smile

Edit: Quick question, for the library managing features, would you guys prefer that SimPhony pretty much determines where edits are saved and keeps track of what edits that you have so that you can easily compile them into a library?

I'd like that, but please give us option to determine where will we save the edit.

APPEND: wait what? If edit is 1 measure too early, then you set +1 offset... the program skips 1 measure from the SM file or adds 1 measure (effectively skips 1 measure from the web editor)? I'm getting even more confused. I think I'll just add/delete manually from the SM file.

Or the offset works the same way as StepMania's simfiles offset?

I believe a +1 offset would skip 1 measure while a -1 offset would insert 1 measure.

I tried the XML thing but the format ended up a little bit borked and the editor didn't like it, not a problem though. I think the only think lacking now is the comments box!
