To be fair, Pie, the game's pretty new and to say that they need more originality because of commissioning from HU just doesn't really seem to help it. I could probably agree with that if they had actually signed them up when the game FIRST came out but it's been a little while and I don't see why they shouldn't be able to license from HU. One, it gives HU more recognizability to other fans that may not play DDR, or people that listen to HU artists. Two, unless they use some songs that were featured in DDR, which is all but impossible, you can pretty much say that they are being original. I only see more HU songs as a good thing. Maybe even having some ReRave exclusives or something.

And if I misread your post then I'm sorry and I'll make you a pecan pie.

Well, to be fair, ReRave's gameplay has been said by many people to be extremely similar to Elite Beat Agents.

Also, I'm not saying that them licensing from HU is necessarily a bad thing, I'm just saying that I doubt they would have been licensing from them had Konami not been commissioning them for years. It's kind of like how ITG made a point to license DDR songs or artists that had been featured in DDR.

The funny thing about the comparisons to EBA is that it's actually not that much like EBA because EBA is all about reflexes and fast tapping whereas ReRave is more about slower-paced note reading and accuracy. It'd probably be a good deal more fun if it was more like EBA.

So say this on their site or fb page?

Meh, effort. I don't really care that much to be honest, I mostly just got my iPad for jubeat. I just ended up posting in this thread cos it was there.

It's not like Konami did the same thing to ITG artists with DDR after the lawsuit (I'm looking at you Diskowarp)

The exact post for the HU stuff was this from the ReRave facebook, liked by Fracus himself...

"Busy week! Licensing new music and preparing to begin our Android coding. We are excited to be working with Hardcore Underground - Clive 'Entity' Stone, Nick Darwin Adam and Gaz Fracus in ReRave? We think so!"

I don't really see a problem with licensing commissioned artists featured in DDR, the music industry is hardwork, so more work for artists, the better. I think ReRave is good for what it is, and only has room to grow. No one seemed to complain about the Paula Terry tracks featured in the Maximum Tune games.

I'm not too excited about the "arcade" version, but it does make a pretty good mobile device music game. It pretty much reminds me of a mix of Project Diva and Ouendan. Half the charm of Ouendan, at least for me though, is how the stories progress as the song plays, and how your actions affect it.

The thing is, EBA has no judgment aspect to it whereas ReRave has not one, but two ways that it grades you on accuracy.

Ouendan/EBA does have a judgment aspect to it, unless you think all those 100s and 200s and such popping up every time you hit a note were just there for decoration. In fact, with some harder songs you could fail them without even missing any notes if you weren't accurate enough (Ready Steady Go :/)

edit: in fact, I would say that I greatly prefer EBA's judgment aspect because it's much easier to get feedback as to whether you're on time or not, rather than having to look more carefully at the notes after you hit them to see how close the line was to 12 o'clock.

Songpack 10 just came out apparently. Features E-Rotic. I don't know what the tracklisting is for it though.

Song Pack 13 is the pack that will contain the difficult hardcore songs from "UK Underground" Song Pack 12 is another variety 5 pack.
Does anyone think any of these packs may have 12s? I don't think there will ever be 13s...

APPEND:
Song Pack 12 is out: $2.99

23 Reasons/TWOTHIRDS (BPM 178) 3 7 11
Electric/The DNC feat. Miss Amani (BPM 120) 2 7 10
Rock That Style/The Banger Bros. (BPM 127) 2 7 11
The Emerald Lounge/zircon (BPM 90-180) 3 8 11
The Koto Chill/zircon (BPM 130) 3 6 9

Three 11s (and they have fun gimmicky charts), it's the best pack in my opinion!

APPEND^2:

Song Pack 13 (Hardcore) is out: $.99

Hookie Mammoth/Entity & Darwin (BPM ~170) 6 8 11
Your Own Destiny/Entity & Darwin (BPM ~170) 5 8 12

I don't know its acutal BPM but its near that area...

Yes, this thread was last updated last month, but more things have happened.

Song Pack 14 is currently out. ($.99) More Rameses B. Wheeeeeee. Roll Eyes

Bits & Bytes 4/8/12 Dubstep, 140 BPM.
Tumble 4/7/11 DnB, 175 BPM.

Also, there was a spat between developers and mDaWg (highest ranked player). There were bugs. Devs ignored. mDaWg got all negative, so devs banned his account, taking him off the leaderboard. mDaWg almost started revenging by working on hacking ReRave, then stopped.

MDawg is just butthurt because they used their authority against a player that was threatening the game's community with hurtful comments towards others and nasty threats towards development. It's their servers, they can ban as they wish. The same thing happens everyday with the 360 and PS3. Nothing new.

What IS new though is that it's 99c in the App Store for a limited time.

I know mdawg, he was also considered the top best DJ Hero player back in the day. When DJ Hero 2 came out he got upset over a bunch of add-ons and how the multiplayer was run (even though it was 3x as better as DJH1...granted it was the choices of modes, not how the system was run in the game) as well as a bunch of stuff within the game that he just quit (after he made a bunch of high scores...which were eventually beaten by me or kristoph_212 or other players on the 360 and PS3) so then he moved onto ReRave. Obviously he was the game's highest ranked player and i've seen his videos about it and man was he an expert. Usually though he would post on his facebook/ReRave's FB page about how glitchy the game was or how some of the songs high scores were bad or some other thing he could find to take a stab at the ReRave devs.

He is apparently one of the creators of either ITG r21 or Stepmania, not sure but i had a long talk with him about his experience with rhythm games and that was one thing he mentioned to me about. I seriously don't know why he gets so butthurt about other rhythm games and complains to the developers about it (he has complained to FreeStyleGames about A LOT of things about the game...i wouldn't be surprised if they completely ignored his requests or not...oh and he also has mentioned about this too, that he is almost always ignored by FSG since they consider him just a "regular rhythm gamer" instead of somebody who has "experience" developing rhythm games.), but hearing this kind of made me both lawl and Roll Eyes at the same time.

He was never officially involved in anything In The Groove or Stepmania related.
