Sony introduced its downloadable PS2 Classics line at the beginning of this month (October), and it's gearing up to release another three titles onto the platform. This set includes vampires, farmers, and spaceships to brighten your post-Halloween candy malaise.
A PlayStation.Blog post announces that this week brings the original BloodRayne, a day late for Halloween but 365 days early for next Halloween, along with Raiden III and Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland. Each of the other PS2 Classics, like Odin Sphere and God Hand, have come in at $9.99.
This is the first update of PS2 Classics since its introduction, bringing the grand total up to 8. If the company continues at this pace, we should have a wide selection of PS2 games before too long. Still, given the PS2's library reached the thousands, it will probably take quite some time before the PSN can offer anything remotely comprehensive.

YES YES YES PLEASE
From what I'm hearing, Odin Sphere is a great game, I just didn't want to shell out 30 bucks for a used copy. Thanks OP for the news!
Other than that, idk if the iidx games could come out on a PS3, there would be licencing issues and the fact that perhaps the controller isn't compatible, even if it was USB.

Now that you mentioned that. I'm gonna keep going to my Japanese PSN account and keep an eye out for IIDX games.Quote: katamaris4ever

You can use the IIDX controller with a USB adaptor. I tried it myself. It works. From what I'm hearing, Odin Sphere is a great game, I just didn't want to shell out 30 bucks for a used copy. Thanks OP for the news!

I'd need to buy myself a new controller then. My BMUS one broke randomly. Not even sure what happened. It just stopped working.
Would a Japanese one work since I'd be using a USB adapter?

Of course it would work. ^^ They're made pretty much the same. Though I would love to have a wireless IIDX controller though.Would a Japanese one work since I'd be using a USB adapter?

Possibly a dumb question, but will these work on non-backwards-compatible PS3s or is this only for the 40gig 4 usb fat version?

No, if they are being released on the PSN Store, they'll work on all PS3s. Just like what they've done and re-released games in HD for PS3 (Sly Cooper, God of War, MGS, etc.)

I wouldn't say its just like the re-releases, considering the God of War HD collection also has a blu-ray based release, but its nice to know that all PS3s will run these.

It's still basically being re-released. It's just getting upscaled, put on a BluRay and called HD. How they can get God of War from PS2 resolution to 1080p, I don't know.
But yeah, I'm happy that they're making it possible for everyone to enjoy PS2 games again.

Easy. They didn't. They released God of War at 720p. And what they do is they remake the game from the original game data. Not the game data from the PS2 discs, but the game data from creating the game (ie the data on their computers).Post #13 · Posté à 2011-11-06 08:03:59pm il y a 12.9 années

If the PS2 games on the PSN did not work on certain versions of the PS3, a message stating so will be with the product description, usually at the very bottom, before purchasing it.

And of course would anger people that SONY felt the need to remove all of these features from their console.

If, and only if, the PS2 classics are merely emulated, Sony should reintroduce backward compatibility on ALL PS3 consoles so people can use their discs instead.

SONY is too afraid of getting their system hacked even more. They think that if they bring it back, more hacking will ensue.
