Hey folks - I don’t often start new threads as I do my best to read as deep into the butthole of the internet to try and find what I’m looking for... however.
Accurate DDR noteskins is what I’m asking about - mainly the old arcade max, max2 and extreme style, or ps2 style. It’s obvious how many variations there are out there from as far back as Takuya’s 3.9 variations, the ones he made for Max 1 and 2, Supernova, and X. Yet there still doesn’t seem to be any that have really nailed it, a few that have come close, but some that seem to have been quickly porter over for the aesthetics of going with a theme. By no means am I criticising anyone at all for their work as I know it takes time and work to nail it! It’s more than what I could probably work at. But as it’s probably where we spend our most time (tapping away to songs) the feel of some good old flashes is just nostalgic and worth asking about.
For awhile I’ve been using the noteskins that came along with the DDR X2 pack however I’ve seen a lot of gameplay videos that people post where it’s obvious they’re using something a little different or even something home made? The ones that came DDRNG2 were great as well but as this was a trashed project they weren’t completed and only compatible with a particular stepmania beta.
I’m aware that the flashes differ depending on the format of game they’re from, arcade being much different than the old ps2 ones, and the modern arcade ddr’s again with subtle differences.
I guess my question is, do any accurate noteskins exist? Or is it even possible with the current stepmania builds as I think hold flashes are something that weren’t able to be completely replicated due to limitations
It would be great to have somewhere dedicated to noteskins again. Looking forward to hearing what everyone uses if they use a normal ddr noteskin by default or whether anyone would be able to assist in helping me make a set?
