I have an original Xbox DDR pad connected to a USB adapter for use in Stepmania, and I can't press two arrows on opposite sides (e.g. up and down or left and right). It detects the arrows as a POV hat rather than an analog stick, so an Autohotkey script I downloaded doesn't work, and it appears my adapter doesn't like the up + start + select trick. Is there any way to fix my problem, or am I pretty much screwed? I can provide more info if necessary.

you do not need any program, you just have to connect the pad to the adapter and connect it to the PC, then you just have to map it and when you finish you must go to "OPTIONS> INPUT OPTIONS> ADVANCED INPUT OPTIONS" and activate the option called "AXIS FIX"

I went into the settings and did that, nothing changed unfortunately. I figured it would take the POV hat into account, but it turns out that fix is only for pads that map the buttons to an analog stick.

"Axis Fix" is for converters where left alone is read as 0, right alone, is read as 255, both together is read as 128, and neither is read as 127.
So converters where the analog joystick is just a bit off center when opposite arrows are pressed.
I have no idea what models of converter work that way.

@Lowdog002 Have you calibrated your controlller via Windows' Control Panel --> Controller Settings?

Yeah, I've calibrated my controller, that didn't do anything. I can give a link to the converter I'm using if it'll be of any use.

I think you need a custom driver to use an Xbox dance pad on PC. Unfortunately the "XBCD" driver seems to have disappeared from the internet... Maybe you can find it somewhere.
Alternatively you can buy a 3 in 1 MagicJoyBox from here: https://www.amazon.com/Magic-Joy-Box-PS2-XBOX-Adapter/dp/B000RLWF7I
It will map the dance pad to buttons. You don't even need any drivers since the device handles it for you.
