I was digging through audio data of PS2 DDR games for something else, but I stumbled upon a few interesting announcer lines. I'm not 100% sure about which ones of these are actually used or not (it's been forever since I've played some of these modes and I never got the chance to play online while it was alive) so there's probably some stuff here that's actually just used and I'm a silly goof. Anyway, if anyone can help me narrow this down to just unused stuff that'd be nice. If any of this is unused anyway. I feel like this should have been discovered by now if that's the case...

EDIT:

Just to clarify something I probably should have put in the OP to start, the first few are found in both EXTREME US and EXTREME2 (Besides for the one that says go for whatever reason, only being on EXTREME US.) Starting from "Welcome to a brand new world" onwards are lines found in EXTREME2 and SUPERNOVA US. I actually forgot to include a couple more that are in SN US but not EX2, so once I also take a look at SN2 to see if there's anything else interesting, I'll be uploading a few more announcer lines I don't recall being used in any of the games.

STUFF THAT'S USED:

“BOSS STAGE”
Used in DDR Extreme 2 (when clearing every dance master mode mission and revealing the hidden Butterfly Upswing Mix Challenge mission) and in DDR STR!KE (when clearing every area boss mission and revealing the hidden MAX 300 SMMM mission)

STUFF THAT'S USED IN OTHER DDR GAMES:

I think I've heard the "Welcome to DDR" bit in a PS2 CS release. I'll check it out

Edit: Indeed it was used (at least) in Party Collection

The only time I've heard any of these was "Special Stage", which is what Stepmania 3.9 uses for the Encore Extra Stage announcement (since we didn't get a separate Encore Extra Stage announcer call until DDR X). But I'd be surprised to hear that Stepmania was the first to use an otherwise unused announcement, which makes we wonder if there was some official DDR game that actually used it beforehand.

Also did EXTREME still use passwords for internet rankings? Password related stuff may be that

"Sanwas gud"
Will this be updated on TCRF soon? Since this is unused content if I'm not mistaken.

I plan on it. I wanted to check with other people who probably know more about the modes and games I didn't play before throwing a bunch of stuff on TCRF that's actually just used somewhere obscure.

It might have something to do with the online mode in EXTREME2 since that's where I found those files. Those files was near other online related stuff too, so it might be some sort of account related stuff or something. I never had an adapter myself, so I have very little knowledge of how the online mode functioned.

The announcer lines for the Passwords are pretty interesting, never heard it before in any DDR
Also the "Everybody look here" line were supossed to sound when you enter your name into the machine high scores?

How did you rip the sounds from Extreme2? They are in a different format.

I ripped the iso from the disc, mounted it, grabbed the SD.BIN file, and opened it in a program called psound. Sounds such as the interface sounds and announcer lines will be read fine, but most music doesn't work properly so you need a separate program for that. You have to mess with the sample rate for some sounds to be at the right speed, but I haven't run into any issues otherwise.
The same steps seem to apply for all PS2 DDR games, though some of them have a SOUND.DAT file that you open instead.
Ripping music is a lot more difficult though, and only comes from blind luck or really knowing what you're doing. I've only seen psound properly read music once thus far.

I was trying to rip the UI Sounds from Extreme 2 but I haven't found a software to achieve that. Green Grin
