I'm pretty antsy to hear aran's Xperanza as well, but until then, I'm at this point:
Top 3:
ChaserXX (This one took me by surprise, but the vibe is so good, I could definitely repeat it a few times.)
Nothing But Theory (Because I'm a confirmed lapix junkie, ya got me.)
SPEED DEMON (Pretty hard to fill the third slot, lots of good choices--but I like the ideas in this song and its charts, and Hardtek is always a fun take on the hardcore genre.)
Bottom 3:
Chemical Cookie (Still not into it yet, hrrrmmmm...)
Abraxas (I also can't decide if I like SYUNN's stuff or not yet--pretty hit and miss most of the time, and this maybe wasn't the best plug for him.)
Whatever SOUND HOLIC made (I have yet to really be into a SOUND HOLIC song, and there are always SO MANY OF THEM)
Also, I realized that my only complaint so far is that I wish there were more interesting videos in the mix. Sinobuz was really good at this, as evidenced by the final song--the car bits and overlays are fine, but it feels like a lot of the supposed-to-be-unique videos this time around are really just a buncha shapes and more shapes.

With the release of CANNON BALLERS, my excitement has once again been rekindled in my love/hate relationship with KONAMI. I'm going to the arcade tomorrow to spend some money.

A few more:
HELLA DEEP - MASAYOSHI IIMORI
I LOVE YOU - O/iviA (Gives me old school dancemania vibes. Also sounds more like TAKA's 'ADULTIC TEACHERS' alias.)
Temple of Anubis - Massive New Krew
HAT TRICK - P*Light
Still anxiously waiting for Xperanza. Song remains an enigma at the moment.

I’ll probably write up my own review later, currently on vacation and posting from mobile but I’ll be back soon. I have this to say though- I’ve listened to all these songs, and I am absolutely hyped for the OST. Even the songs many considered to be lackluster here, I actually enjoyed quite a bit.

An interesting question occurred to me. With the Leggendaria folder now able to appear outside of Extra Stage (without having to buy stuff), does this mean it'll be available to those of us at Round1 when the weekly free VIP PASS BLACK bonus is used?

Don't know how late to the party I am, but anyway, here I am.
Out of the song songs I've listened to so far, my favorites are (in no particular order since I don't know how to make top 5's or 10's with much precission):
● ChaserXX: You know, I think djVERTICAl already said why I like this so much.
● Midnight Lady: A funky beat almost never leaves me dissatisfied. I also like some of the backgrounds used in the BGA. It has a nice...ahem..."aesthetic"
● Back Spin Sweeper: While I'm not too experienced with DJ TOTTO's music, I found this track to be pretty cool sounding. The chart looks kinda hard, too, but I can't confirm (never played IIDX).
● Nothing But Theory: It's lapix. That's all.
● Xperanza: Not sure if this counts, since it's the newest song so far, but here it is anyways. I just have to say that the wait was worth it for me, since this song didn't dissapoint me at all.
P.S.: I also have an attraction to THE CANNONBALLER, but that's only 'cause I never imagined L.E.D. doing Eurobeat.

"Blank for now." |
I'm back from vacation. Since I'm really bad at building a top 10 list... I'm just going to list my thoughts on every song so far!
Basic interface, theme: As a side note, I've been a bit of a car fan on the side (Gran Turismo 3 was probably my first video game ever), so this whole racing styling is something I'm really enjoying.
1001 -ESCAPE-: This song has lyrics. However, I actually kinda enjoy it, but not to the extent that I enjoyed Stardust Distancia in Copula.
AA -rebuild-: I actually really like this song. I did not like the original AA, it felt kinda bland and uninspired. Here, though, there's a strong juxtaposition between the classical-sounding strings and piano and the uptempo drums and subtle electric guitar background.
Abraxas: I have never heard sounds like that in electronic music. I like it, but I'll consider it middle-ground for SYUNN, which isn't low at all.
ACCELERATE: I like it.
Acidiva 303: Am I not the only one reminded of TaQ from this song? Anyway, maybe it's because I'm not wearing headphones, but it sounds kinda dirty. Not my favorite ni-21 song, but I think I'll grow onto it.
Alpheratz: Why the heck do the opening bars remind me of Careless Whisper? I know it's a stretch, but I couldn't take the song seriously after that. Otherwise, I don't dislike this song, but it isn't anything special.
Amor De Verão:This song has lyrics. Okay, I came close to bursting out in laughter when I saw the background video. And then the bass kicked in and I actually found this song pretty tolerable. It reminds me of Papayapa Bass from the previous style.
Arca: Not the kind of song I'd be expecting in IIDX, but I enjoy it. My main complaint is that I fear that while I like this new "Bemani Sound Team" guy, I'm afraid that he's gonna push out all the other music artists, but that's just my unbased fear talking.
Back Spin Sweeper: I am very annoyed at the fact that those backspin samples interrupt the flow of the song as much as they do. I really like this song, but those samples just suck out the good parts randomly throughout!
Battleground: Was never really a fan of kors k on schranz.
Best of Me: YES.
Break Stasis: This is loud. Also, the keysound seperation doesn't do this song justice. Also, that video is awesome.
ChaserXX: This sounds nothing like the HuΣeR I know! And I love it! And that background video... *shivers*
Chemical Cookie: This song has lyrics. Also, I've never heard future bass go that chaotic.
COSMIC☆WONDER☆REVOLUTION: I like it.
DEADHEAT: I expect this song to grow on me.
Exhaust Hype: I love it.
FREEDOM: YES. The background video in particular sells it.
FUTURE is Dead: The moment I saw that this was a C-Show Holic song, I knew I wasn't going to be disappointed. It still managed to catch me by surprise multiple times. I find the BPM change part ⅔ of the way in to be somewhat cacophonic, but it still looks cool.
Get Up! feat. Kanae Asaba: YES YES YES.
HAT TRICK: I love this song and its video.
Hella Deep: I love it.
I Love You: Not my thing.
I'm Coming (2017 Version): (I can't find this. I'll maybe update this later)
LUV DRIVE: It has lyrics. Sorry, RoughSketch.
Midnight Lady: I don't think I need to parrot everything people have said here? I will add though, the shoutout to Seaside Labyrinth felt awkward in execution, and the fact that I'm saying this is pretty big since I'm a big sucker for meta and continuity. Not docking points for that, though.
Mira: Okay, I'm starting to get the feeling that Konami knows about us and our "morals" and is trying their darned hardest to mess with our heads. Otherwise, it's okay.
Nothing but Theory: Lapix? Ultra Jazzfunktion? Why did I not know I needed this so much until now? Also, that background video made me drool.
No Limit 2 dAnce feat. 大山愛未: Y&Co, I don't like most songs with lyrics. Everything you make fits outside that category.
O/D*20:Eh, this sounds okay, doesn't sound anything like Ryu*- OH MY GOD IT'S OVERDOSER
Only for now: It has lyrics.
SPEED: This song fits so well in this game. You win this one, Bemani Sound Team. (Real talk though, this is probably my favorite Mutsuhiko Izumi song now)
SPEED DEMON: Really like this song.
Static State: It's good, but it will never replace Beyond The Seven in my heart.
Temple of Anubis: I love it.
THE CANNONBALLER: It's kinda fun seeing L.E.D. doing eurobeat, but to be honest, it's kinda flat for a eurobeat song IMHO.
The Chase: DJ Mass is back! Finally, a song that sounds more like is pre-Shakunetsu days!
UMMU: I like it. Really unique, not what I expected from t+pazolite.
VOX RUSH: I don't dislike it.
Xperanza: I don't think I really need to repeat what everyone's said here... But this would definitely be in my top 3.
エディブルフラワーの独白 (Edible flower no dokuhaku): It has lyrics.
ハイ*ビスカス (Hibiscus) ft. Kanae Asaba: It has lyrics. Also, the heck is up with that genre?
純真可憐デザイア (Junshin karen desire): It has lyrics. Again, what exactly is Konami trying to accomplish here with Bemani Sound Team?
共犯ヘヴンズコード (Kyouhan heaven's code): It has lyrics.
ラストセンチュリーメランコリック (Last century melancholic): It's kinda meh... Wait, m-flo? Where have you been all these years? (I ask even though the last m-flo contribution was probably before I was born)
ナイトシティー・アヴァンチュール (Night City Adventure): It has lyrics.
草原の王女 -奇跡を辿って- (Sougen no oujo -kiseki wo tadotte-): It's Gekidan Record. Honestly, from what I've seen most of his songs are pretty similar, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
うさ☆かめ 大戦争! (Usa kame daisensou!): I knew where this was going before I took a listen, but since I'm not IGN, I went for it anyway. It has lyrics, 'nuff said.
Sorry about the massive text block, just felt like giving my 5 cents. I am not disappointed at all, and I kinda prefer this game's starting lineup to Sinobuz's. Can't wait to see this game evolve over time. I'm pretty excited, this is the first time I've witnessed the launch of a new IIDX title!

eh sure why not. I've been doing in depth song reviews for IIDX releases since like PENDUAL but I usually keep them to friends and my very small twitter group, but I might as well post it here for a change as well.
Feel free to tell me my taste in music is bad for hating/loving whatever song you love/hate.

Heh, I've always had a weird taste in music. I kinda understand why you rated Hella Deep as an F, Masayoshi Iimori's music kinda just falls under my "guilty pleasure" category like hardstyle, gabba and t+pazolite do. Break Over was an acquired taste for me, and it took the background video to start selling it a bit more. It is a weird song, and I can see it putting of many people (Probably all of my friends), but I personally find it a headbanger.
I really liked that review, by the way. It gives me a lot more to consider when I listen to the songs again.

m-flo has had the most whirlwind of decades going on. Starting the 2010's on...hiatus, after wrapping up 10th anniversary releases. Then in 2012 they release a new album, in which the style is drastically different and heavily EDM influenced. Not terrible, but many fans are turned off because "it's nothing special." Two more EDM style albums would follow. Then a EDM compilation album and another single. The past two years, Taku and Verbal have been focusing almost exclusively on solo works and other projects. Taku did play a NINE different conventions in America this year (Including a last minute local booking that I am still mad about missing :doh. Now in the past month, they've revealed the next album is coming next year, AND that LISA is back as a full time member again.
While this song is technically a solo Taku work, I feel it may be a preview/teaser of the music style we'll hear from them next year. He's been teasing a lot of things lately on Twitter and other media outlets.

Update, my local arcade hasn't updated the machine yet...they said it should be updated by Tuesday, so I'll finally be able to play beatmaniaIIDX CANNON BALLERS in a few days.
I also wonder if they're going to install the new hardware...
