BGAnimations help!

I have placed a bunch of avi video files in the BGAnimations folder to my Stepmania game, but when I play the game itself, it cuts to black once the chart comes across. I did set the game options to play from the BGAnimations folder, so any help would be appreciated! Using Stepmania 5!

You are supposed to put BGanimations in the BGanimations folder. AVIs go in Random Movies.

Do I create a RandomMovies folder within the Stepmania 5 folder?

If it's missing go ahead and create it. There should already be a RandomMovies folder.

I think so. Go ahead and try. I think StepMania will default to random cycling any amount of videos in the folder. So for one video it will only play that video for all songs in the game. Got an idea for a StepMania theme where the same video is played for all songs?

What I meant was for one random video each time I play. So if I play one song, one random video shows. If I play the same song again, a different video shows. Feel me? I was wondering where in the code should I go to apply this?

I thought you might mean that way. I am not sure if that is possible without re-coding StepMania's source code. Don't think it can be theme set.

I believe the preference you are looking for is NumBackgrounds=1

You can manually set this by editing Preferences.ini with a text editor or through StepMania's default theme via Options -> Display Options -> Appearance Options -> Random Backgrounds

Where in the Stepmania 5 files is Preferences.ini in? I tried searching for it but it is not found.
