By quality of life, I'm talking more about the little things - nothing like "get rid of song A" or "revive song B" or "overhaul the interface," etc.

One thing that consistently annoys me when I play is that when the selecting cursor defaults to "Start A New Day," the sort mode is always messed up in the process and defaults to viewing by DDR mix. I'm currently on a double-play binge, and unlike how I play single mode, I sort songs by level, and I need to go back and re-sort.

In the grand scheme of things, it's not a game-breaking bug, hence the label "quality of life."

"five minute white boy challenge"
Use all five difficulty slots more often.

"."
The removal of the generic dancers/generic stage.
Bring back BGA's.

Sometimes just putting "Darkest" on filter isn't enough to make them go away.
Little things like that would be nice.

"DINGDONG♥HEARTS"
Instead of separating Single Play and Double Play as one game session, have them both accessible.

What if I want to play two stages as doubles and final stage as singles? BAM done, just select it from the menu.

Of course, there needs to be notifications that it's being switched to prevent people from accidentally picking the wrong playstyle.

Well what I want is just a calculator so we can find out what speed mod is safe to use OR for the program to automatically gave you the speed mod number

For example: If you have a song of 100 bpm and you choose x5, have it pop 500 on the screen

Life hack: play Start A New Day once and it'll stop doing that. DDR A is trying to suggest Extra Exclusives for you to play on your final stage, so it'll snap to one if you haven't played it. If you have played it, it will leave you alone.

The ability to switch the announcer on/off, even if it's only an eAmuse feature, but preferrably changable through the mods menu. (Konami's website would work fine too, though) That way, we can get clean audio more easily and I can finally download Ishtar and add it to my stash. Personally though, I'd still end up playing with the announcer on anyway.

Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-1495-0040-1058
"I play too much touhou"
-An actual hide background (for real even the darkest filter still barely does the job)
-Announcer removal option and crowd cheering for that matter; I get they're there to attract casuals but you should at least give the option to serious players to turn it off so they can like you know actually hear the damn song.
-A keypad that doesn't look like it costs $2 to make and feel about the same too.
-WAYYYY the fuck more fleshed out speed mod choices, like at the very minimum .1 increments, and some indicator of how fast the notes would go (mostly looking at popn and some ITG themes as an example)
-Removal of the stupid ??? bpm for extra stage because it's way lost its charm

Probably bunch other stuff I can't think of right now.

"that's crazy"
-The ability to see how many arrows, jumps, holds, and freeze arrows are.
-An ability where you insert 1 quarter per stage. For example: If you insert $1, you can play 4 stages. (And you should only insert it before pressing start to play DDR, or else the extra quarters you insert AFTER pressing start won't add more stages, as the system already registered how many stages you're able to play.)
-Extra Stage returns to the No-Recover life bar instead of the 4-lives bar, just so you can at least pass the song, even if you didn't AA it.
How you doin' Lord Toon? Thanks for the banner.

"Sleep cancelled due to COVID-19."

Last updated: 2017-04-23 10:09pm
-'Almost' timing window returning, as to punish mashing
-The option to make jumps count as 1 or 2 Combo
-Return of the Encore Extra Stage
-Option for 'PFC' battery life, similar to Replicant D-Ignition 2nd EES
-'Darkerest' screen filter (100% dark)
-Option to turn the announcer off
-Ability to see exactly what your speed mods to the BPM range (for example, if you use 2X on a 100-200 BPM song, the reading would adjust and say 200-400 BPM)
-Ability to see exactly how many steps/freezes/jumps/shock arrows are in a chart

"Fail at end" should be on for boss songs, so you can learn them if you fail.

More updates, announcer options, maybe you can customize whether you want a BG video/character dancing or not? Maybe a weekly song pick and your 1st stage could be started off with that song, though you can still select other songs. More online interactions I guess as well?

To be fair for this one particular thing, I understand why they do this; people love hype, and seeing a good player fail a song when it's new generates a lot of hype for the new song, as pieces of the chart are gradually uncovered, until eventually someone gets the clear.

Look, Replicant D-ignition may have been way too ridiculous in this regard, but it's predecessor Replicant D-action had so much hype surrounding Valkyrie Dimension as people were gradually clearing parts of the song. It was legitimately really exciting to see it happening. The same kind of hype happened around when Pluto Relinquish in SN2.

It's part of the reason why some games can have such a slow unlock cycle for events; they don't want people to clear it too quickly, or the hype doesn't set in as much and it just becomes an "okay, some new songs happened", which is kind of disappointing.

- I'd really like 4.25x and 4.75x Speed Options.
- Revive Kind Lady. Cliché, I know, but an opportunity to play the DDR 2014 Challenge charts on an actual DDR cabinet would be nice.
- Fail at end if you select Beginner difficulty, for every stage, unless no buttons were pressed for some amount of time (like it is currently on 1st Stage). Allow people who picked Beginner and failed to continue to Final Stage on Normal Play, if they at least played the song to the end.

"Blank for now."
A few new ideas...

-Option to switch between blank, black background, MAX-era BGAs (maybe some new ones too?), dancing characters, and dancing characters over MAX-era BGAs (like 1st through 5th MIX). If a video is played in the background of a stage, it would be played full-screen with BGA mode enabled, and as the background to a dancing character with MIX mode enabled. Dancing characters will always be disabled for BG videos that disable them.

-Building on AxelWasHere's idea for switching announcers, why not go further and add new announcers like the IIDX games? I'd love to have SUPER STAR -MITSURU- narrating my play! ...And the older announcers, as well.

-Something like SM5's M-Mod. I doubt they'd ever add C-Mods, since those would ruin the challenge of many 18s. However, with M-Mods, we could just pick a common speed, and the fastest part of the song would lock to that speed (if BPM changes are present) I hate when I forget to change my speed mod, and I'm changing from a 150 BPM to 200.

-Add a high score list that remembers and lists the people you've played with before, and lists their high scores. On a related note, the ability to set rivals from people you've played with before without having to remember their username and code.

If two players are not using eAmuse passes and both go through the start procedure (including the auto-selection of VERSUS), and there are two credits in the machine, the game should just use those credits and throw both players into the game. Without a pass, only NORMAL mode is selectable, and when I was at Round1 earlier today, I saw two pairs of people end up getting confused and only having one of the two actually go into the game. Confusion like this isn't likely to retain new players, IMO (which I'm assuming they're trying to do with the fact that non-pass players get started off in the GENRE sort and the POPULAR SONGS category in there).

I figure if one user is using a pass, they know enough about what they are doing to advise the other player they're playing with. Plus with locations in Asia and Japan likely having a different price for PREMIUM mode (especially for Japan since it's PASELI only there), auto-choosing anything would be a bad idea.

Also, where the hell is some sort of song progress indicator? IIDX has had it since 4th Style, I don't know whether the other games have it or not, but there's really no excuse for DDR to not have it by now.

(And you should only insert it before pressing start to play DDR, or else the extra quarters you insert AFTER pressing start won't add more stages, as the system already registered how many stages you're able to play.)

PASELI-enabled locations got QUICK PLAY mode sometime during X3 (which is pretty much what this is asking for). Also, are there any DDR A locations in the US that use quarters? Round1 and D&B (AFAIK) both use cards. This wouldn't work with that setup, and also wouldn't work if the arcade operator wanted to use a pricing scheme other than $1 for 4 songs (or any equivalent).

Doubt there's anything stopping Konami from adding options that don't save scores (IIDX has a couple, like EXPAND-JUDGE and REGUL-SPEED). Don't know if DDR currently has any options that block score saving though.

I adore these two ideas! Pop'n Music 19 Tune Street actually did something similar to this, too - the announcers included Sana, B-Kun, and even Alt. Since IIDX did that as well, I think there is a strong possibility DDR could have "switchable" announcers in the future.
