"Blank for now."
For me, nothing beats the feeling of pressing buttons really, really quickly. It can be hard to get into a new rhythm game because I don't have the capacity to press buttons really, really quickly yet.

While my comfort zone in DDR is at high-12s to low-14s, sometimes I enjoy doing something at the 8-11 level, usually without using the bar. Of course, anything below that is pretty lame, and on the definite occasion that I accidentally choose a Beginner chart, I just do that center-stepping thing that newbies do because it's kinda boring otherwise. Also, I'm a big fan of Dynamite Rave Air Special.

On the other hand, I actually enjoy playing easy-level charts on Reflec Beat+. Of course, this is because I'm playing it on my brother's iPad Pro- He'll take it to school or other events, and I invite a few friends to join me in doubles mode. Normally, I have to play level 3 songs, potentially also level 2, but watching the other person play and taking in the note patterns flying across the screen is fun and mesmerizing.

The only "really below my level of play" chart that i remember enjoying and picking multiple times was Fevah from SN2
I usually take this to the extent that i don't even pick songs i already have cleared in IIDX, only practicing new ones to clear next

But there's also the reverse, of the games i arse to play for "fun" without pushing forward all the time, there's usually one really nice difficulty to just slap rhythms to buttons (or touchscreen) without sense of urgency. This number usually happens to be "9" or "max - 1". ITG, jubeat, reflec and most of the smaller 1-10 scale games like project diva deliver just enough sense of "i'm playing the hardest difficulty but nothing is under- or overcharted" around this part.
at least before difficulty scale revamp
