REFLEC BEAT 悠久のリフレシア - The Reflesia of Eternity (AC)

Initially, this method is a bit of a buzzkill, especially when you like playing songs from previous mixes. In the long run, however, it's totally worth it. So far, I'm feeling quite optimistic.

Again, though, that's how DDR MAX did it, and a lot of those songs ended up coming back. They're not playable yet because Konami probably hasn't gotten around to giving all the charts a facelift.

I really like the changes they made to the game. It feels surprisingly fresh. I like how the combos and the points are much higher now.

Well this sucks, I really don't like everything started from scratch, I mean, what's next for DDR: Re-chart the old songs?

I think they do this so then older songs can make some use of the newer features. IIDX has been adding Hard Charge Note songs for older songs as of late and you can even argue that this is what they did with some of the challenge charts for older DDR songs pre-DDRMAX that had freeze arrows. Not to mention X-Specials.

No, they have to do this because they completely changed the game engine. It's not the same as adding Special or White Hard charts; everything has to be redone from scratch and there are just too many Konami original songs to feasibly do before Reflesia was released.

They kept most of the licenses because otherwise they would totally lose any remaining grip they had on the casual arcade audience.

I feel like with such drastic changes that Konami would end up releasing this as a separate freemium game on iOS to incorporate the RPG elements and keep Rb plus in style with the legacy Rb format. Then again Rb plus already has graphic data for up to level 15 difficulty.

Nothing greater than removing songs just to have to re-unlock once default songs again.

Considering how slow GITADORA adds in old GF/DM songs in the series, it could literally take Konami years to do the same in REFLEC BEAT.
