NES Mini

I was referring to this particular time:

I remember the Wii being out of stock for two years, and to a very slightly lesser extent with the amiibos. What I'm referring to was back when Nintendo was a monopoly, save for the Master System, though it was nowhere near as popular, so it might as well have been a monopoly. XP

A Master System Mini and a Mega Drive Mini would probably sell better in Europe. Anyway, irritating how Nintendo just can't seem to ship things properly.

'yup. I remember us all having a quick chat about them when the NES Mini was first revealed. To my surprise, though, Brazil is suppossed to be getting some kind of Mega Drive/Emulator hybrid next year. I hope that it uses the actual Mega Drive software instead of the bootleg stuff used for FireCore.

I'm unsurprised, Brazil had an MD market for quite a while after the US and Europe did.

I could easily turn this topic into a Jim Sterling rant fest, because I already couldn't handle him with his awful thoughts on feminism. Sargon of Akkad has made at least two videos ripping this guy apart for just that, but that's not important.

All I can say is that I've heard a different side of the story of how Nintendo just can't take a break. Either they overhype something only for people to be less interested than they hoped...or we have something like this, Amiibo, and the Wii...where obviously the moment they put small stock, people lose their minds. Also bear in mind that the NES Classic Edition, by category, has more of an interest in the retro gaming community...AKA the community also notorious for coming together like, "Let's overprice the NES Jetsons game so that people associate its artificial rarity with a certain FLEENSTONES game."

I'm not going to dismiss the fact that perhaps Nintendo shot themselves in the foot. I just try to look in multiple perspectives before losing it after only looking at a situation from one lens only. I've seen too much stupidity, ignorance, and hatred straight from people hurling out misinformation, and I suppose I just expect more, especially from journalists that get paid and crowdfunded to deliver what should be the truth.

But I'm probably rambling now. I just feel that for all my curiosity of how Jim would handle this topic, he just appeared way too aggressive. Unless information directly comes out that Nintendo planned this all along, I'm one to say that it still doesn't feel like there's enough evidence to support that they had some ulterior motive.

Does it suck that the NES Classic Edition sold out? Yes! Does it suck that understock has happened from Nintendo multiple times before? Yes! But I still see how after the underperformance of the WiiU, that Nintendo assumed as much for this device as well. No matter how you look at it, it's impossible to figure out supply and demand all the time.

I'm just saying that I think it's worth evaluating these things before simply jumping the gun and flipping the bird at Nintendo yet again. I rest my case here! xP;

Sterling is completely right on the matter. Nintendo isn't a big thing here(Europe), and indeed, they're third place to Microsoft and Sony in most places in the world, and it's extremely easy to see why. They always understock, they always overprice, they always think their shit is worth more than it actually is. I question the frothing retards who actually want to buy a 60$ box with an emulator with an Official Nintendo UI(TM) but when they, Nintendo, don't even stock the bastard properly, that doubly takes the piss. I'm not particularly bothered by Jim Sterling's views on feminism, although I get the feeling they're negative, and thus in line with my opinion on it (third-wave feminism is cancer), but he knows his shit when it comes to talking about video games. What he says is absolutely the truth - Nintendo will never pull their head out of their ass because they know that their fanbase is fucking relentless when it comes to defending this idiocy, and will lap whatever shit they squeeze out right the fuck up. And for people to say "well, it must've been good, it sold out", obviously it's going to fucking sell out when you ship three of them to a store. And there's no possible way Nintendo couldn't have known about the fact that more people will have wanted this - the hype on garbage websites like Kotaku, the raging in the comments section of YouTube videos, the person in the video pointing out it's a load of garbage and the Nintards telling them how wrong they are...

Nintendo can basically go fuck themselves at this point. They've shot themselves in the foot so many cocking times and the Switch looks like a gimmicky mess, they'll never be taken seriously as a third contender in this console race. What the fuck else is new?

The NES Mini is just a Wii with some Virtual Console game pre-loaded and hosed up so you can't add more right? I've told my kids I can just load all those Wad's onto their Wii's and we can even get the NES Mini controllers and plug them into the Wiimote. I don't get the hype 720p same as Wii and I believe it's the same exact Wad's... But you can get MANY more onto the Wii, plus the cord on the controller is soo short that it's clearly designed to be plugged into a Wiimote. Plus you can get a Wii for $25 or so at Gamestop. It takes some effort to soft-mod and get all those Wad's. Also if you haven't bought the games then it's illegal to run them, plus the Virtual Console shop is down AFAIK so you'll need to do this even if you bought the games in the past. Personally I own an NES and have all these games and more somewhere, it's just easier to have everything digitally than on cartridge.
