There is only one thing that bugs me about this.
Don't we already have an NES Mini?
Don't we already have an NES Mini?
In the same way that the Genesis Model 3 is a Genesis Mini.

Actually I've always called it Genesis 3 and the one by At Games would be the Genesis Mini. But to each their own I guess

I personally am wanting to buy this, sure there's emulation but how many computer monitors are 1080p-sized? Just playing the games on such a big screen with an original-styled controller is enough reason for me.

Speaking of which, just how many official clones are there of the Genesis?
Sega released 3 base models during the run of the console, followed by the Nomad (which is a bulky handheld version), and the Japanese-exclusive Mega Jet (plugs into airplane monitors).
There have also been multi-consoles that have a Genesis, Sega CD and/or 32X built into it.
Then, there are a bunch of those Retro-liscensed clones, like the Retron series, which come with a mix of NES, SNES and Genesis.
Nowadays, AtGames seems to be the only company that regularly makes Gensis clones. They put out new versions of the Sega Genesis Classic Console every year, featuring an exclusive set of 3rd Party games (once they featured Street Fighter II and MegaMan: The Wily Wars).
Are there any others I'm missing?

Turns out that you can't use cartridges on the new NES. That's a shame. : (
Oh well, there's always the Retro Duo or the Retron 5 if you really want to go to the extra mile and play your cartridges in HD. >>

Heads-up: If you really want to experience your NES games in HD thru emulation, try using RetroPie. It doesn't actually use cartridges and needs a lot of pieces to work, but it's the most practical way to go about playing NES on 1080p. I use it and it looks great.

You can literally display whatever you want from your laptop/pc to your tv screen very cheap these days with an inexpensive cable.

If we're talking about emulators, the best one that's still supported is Higan. Unlike other NES/SNES emulators, this one strives to be as true to the hardware as possible, with some enhancements here or there too (it even does Satellaview and Super Game Boy games as well!). Also helps that it emulates Game Boy line and even Wonderswan games.

@GadgetJax. I think you nailed them all. Although I myself wouldn't count Retron as it includes both NES and SNES, I count the stand alones.

New trailer! Definitely going for nostalgia, especially at the end.
No darkness filter in the trailer, which would be an improvement over the Wii U VC NES games. Hopefully that will stay that way for the final product and the NX Virtual Console.
Update 9/30: New trailer, showing the interface. Has a 4:3 mode, a pixel perfect mode, and a "CRT filter", which just makes everything a little jittery. It still doesn't have the dreaded "darkness filter" that the Wii U had.
There's also a Famicom Mini for Japan with a different game list. Also, the controllers are stuck to the console, just like the original Famicom.

I like that the Famicom's game list is miles fucking better than the NES one. Basically a metaphor for how it was thirty years ago.

Game list looks largely the same to me, save for 5 games being different. I think the only game that I would probably be jealous of would be Mystery of Atlantis, but only because I saw how ridiculous the game is on Game Center CX.

If you wanted one of these, good luck. Nintendo distributed these about as well as they distributed Amiibos and GameCube adapters.

Fun fact I can say for sure we had 1000 at ONT 2 (maybe ALOT more, I stored 1000 on sunday so that's all I know). I want to say that even tho we got alot, nintendo is making the next step to making sure only so many gets out at a time so it becomes a well wanted item...

Next up, the 99 dollar Black Friday White and Black New Nintendo 3DS systems that will be sold out in a jiffy. I'd trade in my N3DSXL just for one of those. I like the form factor of the smaller 3DSs.

I can confirm this; I have a friend who works at Walmart somewhere in New York, and she told me that there was a long line for the NES Classic... even though they only had 6 units in stock at their store.
I didn't think it was gonna be as popular as it is. That's both exciting (maybe we'll see a SNES Classic soon? Maybe?) and terrifying (I hope Nintendo isn't trying to replicate their supply and demand strategy from the late-80's. X_X ).

Late-80's strategy? I think you're behind the times; Nintendo is infamous for this. Just look to the release points of both the Wii and the Amiibos for reference.
