I'd love to join but sadly I've burned myself out so I'll have to pass...
However, I'll still be playing the files, and good luck to everyone!

I'm in! Let's see if I can finish my second simfile before July 4th rolls around.
Out of curiosity: when judging songs, how many of you play more than one difficulty for each song? I imagine that if there are like 50 files, it might take too much time to be practical, but I do strongly agree with the importance of supporting all levels of play. I'm thinking of doing a compromise of sorts: playing the highest difficulty for all files, then (if I have time) at least one lower difficulty for the files I like best before deciding how many points to give. Is that acceptable?

I usually just play and (if there's a chart) and judge the file based on that. As you said yourself, having to play every chart for every song every week can take way too long and I really just don't have the time to not only step my files every week but have to rate 3-5 charts for couple dozen songs as well.
Also, YES I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS I'M IN!

I tend to only play the difficulties that seem interesting, which most of the time ends up being the highest available difficulty. If the is really gimmicky or if the file seems unfair to judge from that one difficulty alone, I might play the difficulty below it too. There are people here who seem to play all difficulties though (kudos to you; it's time-consuming for sure), at least on less busy weeks, but I don't think people will be upset if you only play one difficulty per file

I'm in, but I'd prefer a limit of one file per week too. More files = even more time to review all of the charts.

I don't know where the idea for more than one file a week came about, but I am also not liking it.

People were able to submit 2 files last Summer Contest, and it worked well. I'd prefer if the limit was left at 2 simfiles, but I could understand why people wouldn't want it that way. But keep in mind, not everybody submits 2 simfiles. Many still submit only 1, so there only turns out to be up to 10 extra simfiles. And by the end of the contest, there is still only a small amount.

two is fine. if you have more than one idea for a file that week and can manage to pump out two quality files, then by all means you should go for it. you don't HAVE to make two files, that's just the limit.

I don't think that many people will upload 2 anyway. :P I could see if uploading two a week was necessary but unless we get like, more than 40 simfiles in the first round I don't see any reason why not to let people upload a secondary simfile.

Those people that will want to keep around top places will need to post two files each week. That is because thanks to two files they can get two votes. Even if they will manage to produce two 'okayish' files they may get for example +4 and +2 getting more points than best simfile of round.
Also people that keep files on backup stash will also have it much better. I tend to make always new files so two files per week will be very hard to pull off. Not to mention, that probably one file each week would be missing graphics.
---
On the other topic, because it's not too late yet. I would highly recommend not allowing new accounts to vote. We don't want situation from ToI6 again here in SC2016. It may sound harsh, but I don't think that someone with less than 10 posts, account made week ago will be a good judge in such competition.

I second this. I was thinking the same thing after the TOI incident and it would make more sense to do that. And it really wouldn't be a big deal anyway, since there are usually very few voters that would fit in that category.

Please let me in.
I can see that being a problem, but I personally stand strongly with the idea of 2 simfiles per week, since I can obtain criticism and more quickly obtain an idea of what works and what doesn't work, but especially during the Summer Competition due to the free time the season allots. (Plus, I doubt overall points mean much except bragging rights...)
Sounds fair to me, though obviously this shouldn't apply if the new account also participates in making simfiles for the Summer Contest. I honestly thought Pandemonium X would institute a rule like this when he said that he was going to change some rules for the Summer Contest.

Summer Contest Balance Patch 7.0.2
I have two optional solutions.
No. 1: If a user submits two files, the average of the two files' scores, rounded up, is their score for the round.
This way, people can dump their simfiles, and still be balanced out with the rest of everyone.
Oh, and also, this would only could towards overall score. Each simfile is still scored individually when referring to the round as a singular unit. (so files earn top 3, not players)
No. 2: If a user submits two files, the files are scored as a package deal, and the player is voted on rather than each file individually. This would save voters their 15 points, but also defeats what Nezemarth just supported about criticism.

Most people only play the and charts, but it could also depend on the difficulty of the charts. (Not necessarily though, as I experienced first-hand.) Personally, I currently play all of the difficulties of each file due to an incident from the last tournament (and for this, I would suggest spreading your playing/reviewing time to at least 3-4 days), but feel free to play only the difficulty/difficulties that you prefer to play at. However, make sure to check the file advertisements in this thread to see if there is a particular chart of a file the submitter wants you to play.
