Hello everyone, just recently, renowned developer Rayark Inc. released their newest music game:

http://i.imgur.com/GW7c6LA.jpg

Official Website: http://www.rayark.com/g/voez/

This is Rayark's 3rd music game, and I must say that it's GORGEOUS!! The presentation is superb, and the game feels quite like that of an arcade game, especially during gameplay! The music is pretty good thus far; Rayark Inc.'s song lineup doesn't slack. If you've played their first two music games Cytus and Deemo, then you should feel right at home with VOEZ's music. I personally like the music.

It's currently FREE to download in the Apple AppStore.
The Android version is expected to be released on June 2nd in Android's Google Play Store.

My only gripe is that this game requires a constant internet connection to play. Don't let you put this off though, there is NO STAMINA/REGEN SYSTEM; you can play as much as you like. There are In-App Purchases in the form of KEYS; these keys will allow you to unlock songs as well as unlock avatars for your profile. KEYS can be earned in-game, but they are currently only awarded after completing certain limited missions which can only be completed once.....so ultimately, if you want to unlock all songs, you will most likely have to spend real money purchasing extra KEYS, as there is no login bonus or whatnot.

From Rayark's announcements, this is only the beginning, and there are big plans ahead for this game.

I usually don't post obscure music games, but this one is truly a masterpiece in its own way! I recommend anyone interested to check it out. Smile

Yeah, I've just found out that the game should be released on Android's Google Play Store on June 2nd (next week); I'll edit my main post. It's available in the Apple AppStore as of now.

Looks pretty cool. I'll give it a try when it comes out on June 2 for Android.
At first I thought there was no way to turn off the sound effect for when you hit a note every time, like in some other games...but I saw some vids out there without it, so I'm cool with that option to turn it off. Smile

Well Time to try it out!

Oh my god this game is so beautiful it is great.
UI is very Different from any game i've ever played and the music is just...

WOW. AMAZING.
Each song has a high score ranking as soon as you pick it. And you can of course change the speed like Deemo

OH MY GOD.
WHEN I SAW THE SCREENSHOT OF THIS GAME I THOUGHT IT WAS A NORMAL TOP TO BOTTOM RHYTHM GAME CLICKER
LIKE DEEMO AND DYNAMIX...
OH SHIT. WHEN I SAW THOSE SLIDERS MOVE.. I WAS WRONG. OH MY GOD. YES. I AM TOO HYPED. GET THIS NOW. EVERYONE.

Bloody wankers, I'll be required to have a constant Internet connection to play this one? SERIOUSLY?!?
What a pile... Playing rhythm games with earplugs while traveling for hours is the best...

Eh, at least I still got GC and the former two Rayark games.

I agree with you, I also dislike the inconvenience of having to always be connected to the internet just play a game (unless it's MMO, which makes sense), especially music games. Some hours ago, I contacted the developers directly about this issue (thank goodness I've learned enough traditional Chinese) and made a suggestion they thought was very interesting. I suggested that they add a new IAP that unlocks OFFLINE play, thus allowing users to be able to play online/offline as they wish, of course, all online content would be locked out respectively unless connected. Don't hold your breath, but they're going to at least look into it. If they implement it, then they could make some extra well-deserved revenue as well as satisfy a lot of customers. Rayark Inc. has a good PR track record.

In other news, I've obtained 4 keys from missions, and it seems that's all you'll get before having to shell out some cash to unlock the other songs. You start out with 8 songs unlocked by default (although there is an additional lock on them for some odd reason), and you can earn 4 keys via missions, each key will unlock a song of your choice, and man these songs are so good, so choosing may be tough.

"AKA Azaliate"
I believe there is a lock on the unlocked songs because the game may use some form of rotating unlocked songs, with set songs being unlocked for a limited time, maybe on a monthly or weekly basis. Songs that you personally unlock seem to be permanently unlocked though, as they don't have any kind of lock on them.

The thing is, something like offline gameplay for mobile games that don't use online for always-active data verification should not be mandatory... PERIOD! From what I'm seeing from the gameplay videos on Youtube, this doesn't seem the kind of game that requires to be always connected on the Internet to even access a song to play it; ideally you play as much as you like among the ones on your profile, and when you're logged online you load the scores, that's it. Many others have done this stunt in the past (Rayark very much included), so why don't continue the comfortable trend?

My best guess of their reasonings behind the always-online gatewat are the (...yeah, quite legitimate) complaints of Cytus and Deemo requiring a file download containing every single content of the game, both with the free and paid tracks; for people running out of space, that sure may be a download discourager. With that said... Why don't make separate DLC packs, then? Many Apple-friendly games from Bemani and other competitors like Groove Coaster make you download songs only if you actually go to the process of playing them for the first time, be them unlocks or song pack purchases.I know many app makers need as much AD buck as they can cram from every playing user's devices, but that's just outright pretencious...

With that said, however, I'm still looking forwards to try it next week. Sounds fun!

I believe the game does this cause the first time you load a song, its a pretty long wait like Groove Coaster.

"This hat hurts"
Hi.

The Monetize plan is that the songs will change every week. So technically you get to play each and every song for the game if you are patient enough. There will be no song packs technically. Each song will be sold separately for 0.99 and they are bundling key prices.

12 Keys = $9.99 ($0.83 / song)
25 Keys = $19.99 ($0.80 / song)
55 Keys = $39.99 ($0.73 / song)

There has also been some talk about graphics and calibration problems. VOEZ has very tricky offset timings and also requires up-to-date technology in order to run it lagless. (Somewhere around iPhone5S. Darkstorm ran his on IPad) Hopefully there is a graphics update in the future to allow all players to play it efficiently.

Mostly I am using this opportunity of infomation to exclaim that THEY FUCKING HAVE PAUL BAZOOKA. HOW THE FUCK???

Well for some, it sucks to have constant internet connection. But i got a crap carrier (Cricket wireless) so i use my 4g 2.5gb in about a day, after which its down to about 700kbs DSL speed. So perhaps everyone should email their carrier to ask "let me turn down my connection speed to minimum required to use this such-n-such app." I dunno. Perhaps im too passive to mind this anymore, seems its becoming normal for so many good music games on our phones >_>

Nope, it's for download means. In the case of Groove Coaster especially, the game tells you each time you pick out a separate mode for playing for the first time. I mean, if the game did the "waiting screen" thing just to load faster, why isn't the '1st-time load screen' appearing on EVERY mode for EVERY song? GC is quite inconsistent as for most songs it's 1-2 different downloads for each separate mode, and when specially-keysounded songs come to bay for selected modes, difficulties like AC-EASY and AC-HARD need a download just to get the charts. It happened more than once to me that I buy a song pack for the game, play/quit all of them just so that I can store the downloaded songs and when I play offline the brand-new songs some AC-EASY modes needed some files for their charts to be downloaded and played.

Game is great and all..
Just the way you buy songs on this game pretty much turns me off from it.
And you only get like what? 3-4 keys? Then you have to buy the rest..
Eh...

Agreed on that. Why even advertise it as 'free-to-play' when what you get for free is basically a demo?
