My LA SFV Peeps

So, I know that the only worthwhile places in the valley for DDR or bemani have all pretty much closed, but I wanted to know who still gets together to play and stuff. I can only think of Matador Bowl and its ITG2 machine, and Castle Park with its DDRX2. All Ways Gaming in Chatsworth has a hidden DDR Extreme machine that they NEVER power on. Are there any other locations?

Also down to get together and play at my place. If you have a (metal) pad, awesome. I have a ddrgame.com pad but it sucks and I keep breaking the arrows, they're way flimsy.

I'm also down to take trips to Round 1 every once in a while, but I'd like to meet my peeps in this area for usual hangouts at Matador Bowl or Castle Park.

Incidentally, who manages the ITG machine at Matador Bowl? Someone's modded it but the song list is super lacking. I'd like to add things to it so that I would go to it more often. If anyone has info on that I'd super appreciate it.

Aside from the places you mentioned, I don't know of any other arcade locations in the valley that have DDR machines. There are a couple machines in the Santa Clarita area. Six Flags Magic Mountain had EXTREME for awhile, apparently it's been removed, (can't really verify) and Mountasia had a couple last I checked. Also according to the arcade database on this site, there's a SN2 cab at Winnetka bowl in Canoga park (not sure if that's still the name of the bowling alley).

I would be interested in meeting up to play DDR with someone Tbh, I only ever play alone or with my sister, who can play up to 7 on X-scale decently. I only have soft pads (A couple of Wii ones and a couple PS2 mats.)

I go to Castle Park a few times a year (last I went was presidents day weekend, I believe). The X2 cab wasn't performing great though.
Last time I went to Matador, the cab quality was actually pretty impressive and much improved from the last time I had gone. I don't really know any of the songs and I also have no idea who manages it.

I'd also be interested in meeting someone to play for an hour or two. (Either location is alright, I'd prefer Matador if I get to bowl too haha) It'd probably have to be after school gets out for me (2nd week of June, IIRC).

Sweet. On X scale I can probably handle up to about 16 with a little trouble.

Pretty down for Matador anytime, I'm nearby there.

Haven't really had much arcade experience, but I can usually score 950k or higher on 16s (at least the few that are on DDR II) on console. I have a little more trouble playing accurately in arcades. I think part of that is that I play with only socks at home and arcades generally require shoes so...Also most cabs I've played on aren't in the best condition (Matador's ITG is working well, though.)

As for figuring out a time, I'll probably have to get back to you that after Track season is over and when school is done with for the year.

Sky Zone trampoline park in Van Nuys has a DDRX dedicated cab, but that also means it's the wooden pads.

alright, finals week is OVER! SO, I went to go test out the USB ports at Matador Bowl, and they don't work. I took several USB flash drives to test and nothing. (T^T)

Well, that's the curious situation. It seems someone manages that machine and the games there, not the Matador Bowl staff. Which means they couldn't tell me jack. So, I rebooted the machine while no one was looking *teehee* and waited for the startup sequence to give me info. Apparently, according to thebstartup, they're disabled.

Which brings me back to square one. Who knows who manages this machine? Because the people who work there seem to not know...

I think I can meet up at Castle Park next Tuesday (6/28) from 3:20 to 5:00-ish. My mom and sister will be in the area for an appointment around 3:30 to 4:30, so if you're available, we can meet up then.

Also...why are there so many shy players? At least say "hi" back.

Because the majority of the players do not exist. For the moment, the best spot is FAC (Family Arcade Center) for DDR at the moment. It seems their machine is pretty good right now.

Me - 2 Pumps and 1 DDR. I'm trying to to get a Red DDR cab...but who knows when that gonna happen. I'm getting ready to sell the DDR to someone since it useless right now (no computer inside)

And it seems we're growing slowly with the private machine cabs. No one coming out of the woodwork until DDR A lands somewhere. Other than that, everyone keeping to themselves.

Maybe it's because I used to play back in the day when, of course, no one had private cabs, so everyone played at the arcade, but I like having that "in-person" community feel where people chill somewhere to play.

I mean, having a cab must be so cush because no need to pay to play. But doesn't it feel so much more exclusive this way?

Forgive my whininess but would be nice to meet more peeps, after all.

I'm a frequent visitor to Castle Park since I live... 30 minutes-ish away from it. Well, used to be frequent pre-Anime Expo. I usually go there on Saturdays.

On the X-rating scales, I can do in between 11-13.

Any records that have "R.Suzuki" on the DDRX2 machine is me.
