So the game has left early access on April 21st and has been on sale for 33% off (it may end tomorrow from what I've looked into). Basically your aim in the game is to survive with other players. There is also cosmetic items in which you earn I think 4 per week and while there is no CSGO/PAYDAY 2-style cases in which you pay with Steam wallet to open and gamble on, you can still sell your cosmetics in the Steam market.
Also, I do host my own modded server using Steam Workshop characters, which is running on Digital Ocean's droplet, though the CPU usage on a 30Hz tickrate server is pretty high with 4 players in the game when I went with a $10 a month plan on the droplet, like around 70-80%. Don't know if it's normal or it's because it's a Linux server or the clock speed on it isn't all that hot.
There is announcement on a PS4 version as well but I'm thinking the release date is a bit vague even by Google searching.
