So uh, is this the longest time for a song to not be unlocked for normal play yet since its reveal? Pertaining to Endy and AfA, that is.

IIRC Over the Period was out for almost a year before it was partially unlocked, and you couldn't even play the challenge chart normally until Ace was released.

I would give Endy/A4A another month or so.

Replicant D-action:

July 2010: Valkyrie dimensionHeavy playable.
August 2010 (1 month in): Medal conditions relaxed. CUT2 exploit fixed. No new charts this update.
November 2010 (4 months in): Valkyrie dimensionStandard playable. First time Valkyrie is playable once every credit.
February 2011 (7 months in): Valkyrie unlocked for normal play (first time it's playable multiple times a credit). ValkyrieBeginnerLight playable. ValkyrieChallenge playable in Marathon Mode (Japan only, other Asia countries excluded).
April 2011 (9 months in): ValkyrieChallenge fully unlocked.

Replicant D-ignition:

March 2015: Egoism 440BeginnerLightStandardHeavy playable.
March 2015 (less than 1 month in): Max.(period)Challenge and Over The "Period"Standard playable.
April 2015 (1 month in): OT"P"Light playable. (OT"P"Beginner accidentally also playable through glitch.)
May 2015 (2 months in): OT"P"Beginner playable officially.
July 2015 (4 months in): Orb conditions relaxed. NITRO conditions also relaxed. No new charts this update.
August 2015 (5 months in): OT"P"Heavy and Egoism 440Challenge playable. First time the songs are playable once every credit.
December 2015 (9 months in): OT"P"Challenge playable. First time the songs are playable multiple times a credit.
March 2016 (12 months in): OT"P"Challenge fully unlocked.

Rinon's Adventure III:

July 2017: EndymionBeginnerLightStandardHeavy and Ace For AcesStandard playable. EndymionChallenge and Ace For AcesHeavy hypothetically also playable.
August 2017 (1 month in): Conditions to reach A4A relaxed. No new charts this update.
September 2017 (2 months in): Ace For AcesLight playable.

It's not just you; the event hasn't been touched for 6 months. We never had a gap this long previously. By this point in RDa and RDi, the songs would already be playable once every credit. Konami making A4ABeginner playable, or downgrading Endymion to Extra Stage Level 2, or even just making Rinon's Adventure take fewer steps to complete would have been trivial updates. We've gotten none of these.

Most of the people on this damn site don't actually play DDR A but then feel like they have the right to bitch about content anyway. Yeah, it's a slow trickle, but it's not the end of the world. There's plenty of other songs to play.

To be fair, I wouldn't say the opinions of us people without DDR A are invalid, but I think we should probably do more research and understand the feelings of those that have access to DDR A. I want the game to succeed to its fullest extent whether I have access to it or not, but I certainly don't want to distort reality and make corporate decisions sound worse than they really are.

Quote: DigitalBasic
You mean to say it's bad that a Japanese company making a Japanese game with Japanese music that primarily caters to a Japanese playerbase

should just stop adding Japanese music because others in the world can't play them?

I don't understand that logic one bit.

Also, again, why are we talking about this when the answer has been the same since the last five times this has happened? Seriously, it's nothing new, it's been that way since the three Exit Tunes songs in August 2016. Licensing is probably a pain and a half, and considering the US had to have ALL current licenses made at once probably made Konami decide not to spend more on licensing until DDR was shown to be received well enough... or it could be because Konami doesn't give a shit. It could be anything and we'll never know until someone at Konami just says why.

If anything, we'll see these songs next mix where they will probably license them all at once. Then you can all complain about how there are too many anime/Touhou songs again, play them once, and never touch them again while you stick to the same twenty songs you always play like you do now.

Kinda general statement, because certain Touhou and anime songs are the only ones that are having issues being distributed outside of Asian countries. I'm saying because I'm not saying that we should go to 4Kids proportions here. Taiko Drum Master for the PS2 suffered for being too Americanized despite being Japanese-themed and that's more or less why you don't see any localizations ever again. Simply put, Japanese songs are fine as long as they gather positive response and aren't backed by heavy licenses that prevent them from being localized.

I just don't recall DDR having this much trouble with licensing in the past. Then again, it might have been more the result of planning games past X2 for strictly Asian audiences. It worked for up until Ace, so I think Konami should try to rethink licensing plans for the game.

Also, I think your last paragraph is partly why I made the statement about the anime/Touhou songs...that is assuming that actual DDR A players do feel this way (Going back to my first response). If people really don't want Touhou/anime songs, then why license them for DDR in the first place?

I care more about the opinions of actual players of the game over the opinions of people who don't play the game and jizz their pants thinking about what a 20 footer would look like and think NAOKI is the second coming of jesus despite all his songs bleeding into each other way more than touhou ever could, and I swear like 90% of the people whining about 2hu/anime songs in rhythm games just play bad apple once and use that as evidence to their arguments and act like konami is forcing you to play them when HUNDREDS OF OTHER SONGS also exist to play (of course not that many of said people even play the game to begin with but you know).

Honestly it's like nothing pleases this god damn community with this game.

To be fair, I have yet to see any community that doesn't have a bunch of conflicting complaints and opinions. That's the very nature of being a group of people with a bunch of different tastes, which unfortunately leads many people to feel as though what they like is devalued by a choice to do something they don't.

I'm in the same camp, tbh. On that note: I don't know anyone IRL who gives a shit about the Asia exclusive songs except for the handful of people who wanted to play Disappearance. It's not that big of a deal. I'm just legitimately happy to just have Ace in the first place. For years my area didn't have anything more recent than SuperNOVA (outside of the folks with private cabs and with PW installed and all that lovely bovine goodness), so there's already tons of content as far as I'm concerned.

Approximately nobody asked for this song to be included. Least popular decision by the Japanese since Nintendo released the Wii U.

I read the following on BEMANIWiki:

「The 7th KAC予選課題曲「Be a Hero! / 中島由貴」「Reach The Sky, Without you / nc ft.NRGFactory」無条件解禁」
I believe this says that these two will be automatically unlocked for all players. And yes, there will be a new idol song 恋時雨 in the game.

There's a difference between "planning to add these licenses to the game when there will be no additional licensed content added later" and "we'll add these licenses later on via online update." That's the biggest difference between licenses before and now, and that could easily be why licensing to the US is a pain. Remember: we found out in April/May that DDR A was coming over with US licenses, and those songs did not get added until July.

The licensed songs being added more recently could be by request of the artists (thinking of the Cirno songs in September) or labels. Who knows how far in advance those are actually planned out, if at all.

Those complaining about those songs are not the target audience for those songs being included.

I also want to point out that 2014 had 27 idol songs. Seems people forget that for some reason...

The biggest issue with new licenses is the fact that the Asian versions all use a profit sharing system (where they pay a reduced sum for the game itself and pay based on how much use the game gets, this is the eAmusement Participation system that I've referred to in previous posts), whereas the US and EU versions of DDR A use the standard "buy the whole game and just pay for access to the network" instead (EU doesn't even get network access yet). It is likely far easier to add licenses in the middle of a game's life with the system the Asian versions use (from what I remember, the games generally didn't have licensed unlocks added via updates until they moved over to that system).

My 2 cents on this: it's surprising people care some much about 2 niche songs not being added in their version. You have plenty of BeforU songs to choose from Wink, and besides we're getting new content in some way at least. So DDR isn't totally dead yet, at least until Dance Rush comes out. And yeah RIAA copyright and all. And let's be fair, what kind of American player would choose these songs besides the hardcore fanbase?

No we didn't. We got them in July bc that's when the US version of DDR A came out, and they just added them in Japan to coincide with the American release. (and we also thought they were regional-exclusive songs)

Japari Park is a 13 on doubles.

Probably a gimmicky chart. Very interested in seeing it.

EDIT: There are 217 notes in Japari Park Challenge Doubles. Now I'm EXTREMELY curious.
EDIT2: It's all jumps. I have my answer.
