So after four months of speculation, the final chart of Rinon's Adventure is confirmed at last. Amazing.
Surprised to see how many steps+freezes it has. Heck, 672 is quite a bit bigger than even OT"P" and Endymion (606 and 613 if I counted right), and those are some of the hardest 15s.
Endymion stuff:
- Despite the huge score jump from 917k to 970k between two passes, Endymion is no slouch: you can see in the 2-hour video that FEFEMZ made four attempts at the chart and only passed it once (22:03, 38:47, 1:59:41, 2:15:52). But from the footcam, you can chalk this up to FEFEMZ using riskier strategies than before (e.g. actually doing crossovers instead of pad mashing or hitting arrows out of order) to aim for score instead of just pass.
- Looks like the three fails were all during the jumpstream section at the end (not much surprise there), with scores of 919k (907/953rds of the way, 96.5% score), 912k (899/953rds of the way, 96.6% score), and 891k (889/953rds of the way, 95.5% score). All of these would have been AA+s had they been passes (with the score ratio kept up).
- The 13 instances of losing a life were: 3 on the first 440 BPM crossover stream, 1 in a 220 BPM section, 1 near the 220 -> 110 BPM slowdown, 1 on one of the footswitches, 2 on crossovers in the deathstream, 2 on Tell jumps in the jumpstream, and 3 elsewhere in the jumpstream.
Ace For Aces stuff:
- Looks like Ace For Aces changes the accessibility rules: if two players pick Endymion on and only the player passes, the game proceeds to Ace For Aces on . This contrasts against two players picking Endymion on - the game will go to Ace For Aces on or if only one player passes (the failing player copies the passing player's difficulty instead of using their own). Way to make the true final chart even harder to beat.
- Optimistic rule: "On an Endymion pass and fail, the failing player copies the difficulty of the passing player, unless that's in which case let the failing player keep their difficulty." This means two players can attempt Ace For Aces if the other player plays on too (using CUT1 or failing).
- Pessimistic rule: "On an Endymion pass and fail, the failing player copies the difficulty of the passing player, unless that's in which case bump them down to ." Now there's no plausible way for two players to attempt Ace For Aces, and only the super-tired player who just beat a 19 can attempt it.
- Even Ace For Aces is looking surprisingly hard to pass, with FEFEMZ attempting it twice and FEFEMZ's playing partners attempting it three times and failing all five times.
- Looks like Ace For Aces has the 'OT"P" syndrome', where the chart starts so early that "Ready" and "Here We Go" cover up the arrows (not to mention the screen filter not showing up until it's basically too late). Yuck.
- Rinon's Adventure has a 'conundrum' of sorts that RDa and RDi didn't have. With RDa and RDi, the transition from "once every X credits" to "once every credit" revealed a new chart, and the transition to "multiple times a credit" (normal play) also revealed a new chart. But that's impossible for RA, since a possible Ace For Aces is the only chart left that a transition could reveal.

Only thing I see that fails this test is all 4 times the player playing with has never succeeded to AA+ Endymion on so without playing with someone who has succeeded in unlocking the challenge chart OR clearing AfA themselves we cannot guarantee the bump down of a to get a . While normally even if fail... both players do have access to a path to the AfA chart, where Endymion is always open from day 1.

It was bothering me that it's so hard to see the footcam in FEFEMZ's video (original here), so I just made a quick zoom/brightness/contrast edit:
Enjoy
==========
Bump: So I got distracted by the release of Pokemon USUM, but just noticed that the first half of November has passed and there's been no Endymion/Ace For Aces downgrade yet. This is surprising because between all three of RDa, RDi, and RA W11, this is the first time we've had a gap of longer than 2 months between difficulty downgrades. (RDa had two gaps of 2 and 2; RDi had four gaps of 1, 1, 2, and 1; and RA W11 now has three gaps of 1, 1, and going on 3.)
Wonder when we'll get to see Ace For Aces then.
Enjoy

I think they are going to put A4A in on early 2018. Just a supposition.

Nope. Best attempt is TAKASKE, who dies to the 880 BPM speedup. Pretty sure 4-Life is basically not legitimately possible for the double-challenge chart.

and any NEWS of ENDYMION CDP?You find someone who, after all this time, is STILL willing to grind that chart out, and we'll talk.
A 4-life run of a Doubles 19 is not happening on a chart people don't know the ins and outs of. Simple as that.

Given that OT'P' and EGOISM 440 haven't been 4-life'd even after being available to everyone, I don't think actually knowing the ins and outs actually helps all that much.

Oh come on that is too funny. It goes to show that VR0 is a "Slowpoke" when it comes to staying up-to-date on these things.

Actually, I am already hitting doubles on X-10, normally, but at more feasible BPMs, and the extreme difficulty justifies the fact why no one 4-lifed 19s like OTP and EGOISM. It is twice as hard to learn, so it would be likely that hardly a third of the DDR Population plays Doubles at least on .
What we know as a 13 on singles would probably be a 9 or 10 on doubles in terms of stamina and difficulty, plus the higher risk of getting injuries. I almost fell more than once taking on Gentle Stress (AMD Sensual Mix) , to almost fail at certain parts, and I still have a harder time passing Mars War 3 (despite I passed it on X3) on SN2.

there's no news because konami made the process of this event grueling thinking they can keep us busy because they're too lazy/don't want to give ddr more content because they prefer other bemani series instead

oh god you're here too and spouting things just as irrelevant i cannot FUCKING ESCAPE
But yeah, there's no real DDR news because the only thing that would be newsworthy right now is AFA Singles Expert and Endymion Double Challenge. AFA Singles Expert has only been started ONCE and failed in about a dozen steps and Endymion Challenge Double will NOT be cleared during this event. LET ALONE 950k'd.
