BPM Changes on different difficulty? This is new to DDR. Is there proof?

If this is true, I'm now EXTREMELY intrigued to see the Heavy chart.

I can't wait to play the damn simfile for this. Did .ssc files just get canonized?

EDIT: just realized. if they're changing the BPMs and stops for each difficulty of A4A, I bet the Heavy will have steps on every beat of the ending.

SHREKT

that is weird. How is that going to look if two players clear Endymion on different difficulties (I.e. Basic vs Difficult) and play A4A?

This is very interesting. It'd be great if they did this back when they started making crazy BPM gimmick songs in the first place, but it's pretty cool to see them do this now at least. Ironically in this instance it's actually causing fails which is pretty amazing in its own right.

I'd be pretty happy if they went back and nerfed the bpm changes and stops of Beginner and Light for some of the other boss songs, but knowing how reluctant KONAMI is to do anything besides fixes to old charts these days, that probably wont happen.

Now I'm really curious about what happens if two people play Endymion LightStandard and (1) both pass, (2) only the Standard player passes, (3) only the Light player passes.

Has anyone checked to see if the Difficult chart didn't change to remove its BPM changes in accordance with the new Basic?

I played with someone earlier who did Endy Standard while I did Light. It gave both of us Ace for Aces Standard

It seems the Basic chart doesn't have stops, slowdowns nor speedups.

I dunno. PIU did it first.

But then again, I guess DDR caught on with the practice of employing speed changes on individual charts after 10+ years or so.

Someone just played Ace for Aces on difficult and confirmed it has the same tempo changes.

Split timing, huh? This is a ballsy move on Konami's part and I wholeheartedly approve.

I propose that ACE FOR ACES on the DDR A Beta simfile category should be SSC only so it gives a push for more players to use SM5.

EDIT: Ah, it's already been done. Good.

So the question is, what's gonna happen when this is unlocked for normal play and one person wants to play Light and the other Standard ? If P1 doesn't have the gimmicks while P2 does, seems that P2 could cheat a little by looking at P1's side...(even if the charts aren't the same, some of the notes after pauses line up on both charts I'm assuming like after the first stop in the Standard chart, so looking over the other player's screen is still useful)

Looks like it's possible to play Ace For Aces on Light and Standard at the same time. Photos only, no video.

https://twitter.com/rad_rodd/status/908208420506894337
36% of the way through the S-Light chart on video. We're still waiting on a video of the full chart; shouldn't take more than a day I'd hope.

Results screen of the S-Light chart. It has 311 steps and 19 freezes.

oh god

Edit: Misread "steps" as "stops", but I suppose both are equally possible. Either way, we could easily see Heavy have totally different gimmicks compared to Standard to make it even harder.

Odd - did only the other player meet the EES conditions? (If you got below a AA+/didn't have 7 heat power/etc.)

I'd guess the same thing as when there's a song with a large BPM change, and both players use wildly different speed mods so both can read off the other's side at opportune times (i.e. nothing unexpected will happen).

EDIT: I missed it live by a handful of hours, but we have a video of Ace For Aces S-Light now! Dr.D and Estepper look like the first to pass it on video!

Since they played Endymion on LightHeavy and failed Heavy, and got Ace For AcesLightLight, this confirms that one player making it to Encore gives both players that difficulty, and both players making it to Encore gives them separate difficulties. Looks like what I guessed 3 weeks ago was completely wrong. On the good side, this makes the possibility of EndymionChallenge -> Ace For AcesHeavy much higher.
