I never knew competitive rhythm gaming could be a thing until recently. Except it's exactly what I expected- I imagine someday in the next few decades the best DDR players will be able to MFC 19s with ease just like wavedashing in Super Smash Bros. Melee. That's when I quit playing rhythm games.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's three sets of people for singles and doubles. I never see anyone talking about high scores when it comes to doubles, though...

My prediction is that 19s will become more prevalent but we won't progress beyond that unless there's one ultimate boss song rated a 20. Which there won't be.

I feel we got a 19 coming with the end of the Extra Exclusive event, since that already has New Century and Neutrino being 18 already, and who knows what others are getting the 18 treatment.

It will be interesting to see the turn of 19s becoming the new 18 - i.e, the standard for "true boss song" territory. I just hope they learn how to actually chart hard shit.

If ddr isn't using that last rating, they could lend it to IIDX, we need more ratings over here so we wouldn't need to use clickagain and similar sites to actually know how hard the songs are
