I play Doubles occasionally. Highest Doubles PFC is a 14, I think?
Edit: well Para Survivor SHOULD be a 14

lol I can barely clear a Doubles Basic chart. My feet don't go to the right places and I end up stepping on the metal parts 50% of the time.

Don't feel bad, we all start like this. I would just focus on trying to hit as many arrows as I can more than anything else. Post #3964 · Posted at 2017-04-28 01:32:11am 6.9 years ago

Precisely this. I didn't even start until I was really good at Singles and I still had a looooong period of completely missing and hitting metal instead of pad.

Yeah, I'll admit that I forgot about Marisa Stole the Precious Thing mostly because it's also completely unmemorable
This is from a while ago, but can someone explain? The chart for it seems fine to me...
Play it on doubles. It's completely different and how it should have played on singles. Not just Expert, but the others as well.
I can say the same to Knight of Knights as well, although those charts are similar to the singles just without the double stepping (both Difficult and Expert from what I've played). Personal preference more than actually terrible.
Also I played 5 of the 6 challenge charts (Astrogazer CDP is the only one I did not play due to lack of energy) and can safely say they all are fine in their own way. You really do have to play Astrogazer CSP to see it works pretty well rather than just looking at it. I thought it was ridiculous looking at it before playing and ended up PFCing up to the first jump (which is odd for me because I'm awful at such runs) and having a wonderful time throughout the rest of it.
I'm also primarily a doubles player. I can clear 18s and can probably AAA a 17 at this point depending on which one I play. I also FPC'd a 16 with Emera (EDIT: actually I thought I did but I'm 2 greats away from doing so oops) and I think I did something else too. I just tend to stick around 10s-13s due to personal preference and I like the patterns in those over some in the higher difficulties, although I vary between just wanting to play 10s and playing nothing but 13s-17s.
I only started playing doubles on DDR last year, but I also had experience playing Pump It Up doubles since 2008, so that kind of transferred over.

All X series shock arrow s that weren't easier than the were just with some of the notes replaced with shock arrow row. Does this apply to New Century?

Honestly, Astrogazer Oni looks like the most fun out of the new charts. I'll probably try it out on Saturday. Rising Fire Hawk Oni looks cool too, I was honestly getting bored of playing just the Heavy chart which I still think should be a 13 rather than a 14. New Century Oni looks a little iffy, but not much harder than Heavy which was actually my first 17 heh

Meanwhile I'm in the minority that thinks New Century is a pretty cool thing.
I think this is because I still struggle on 15s, and I can't make proper judgement...

The chart for RISING FIRE HAWK is damn good.
New Century and Astrogazer are not bad but they are good compared to other 18s DDR has had.

All these charts are not bad btw, just a little overkill but each one have a distintic charasteristic:
- Astrogazer , despite being overstepped in some parts, it flows really well with the rhythm of the song
- RISING FIRE HAWK is by far the best chart in this set, really well made
- New Century suffers the same thing as the chart of Sakura Mirage: This chart despite being the weakest of the set, at least in singles, in doubles they did a pretty good job with this one. I don't have problems with the shock arrows at all, but some crossovers are just weird, but overall an ok chart

I wasn't a fan of New Century on Expert, not a fan of it on Challenge, but certainly not helped by the way I've never liked the song.
RISING FIRE HAWK is sweet, pretty much exactly what I'd want it to be on Challenge.
Astrogazer, despite being aggressively stepped, flows well and follows the song pretty reasonably. Looks like tons of fun and ultra exhausting.

I am quite a fan of Astrogazer S- . It looks hella fun and I can't wait to play it and KO afterwards soon. Same with RFH.

I think New Century and Rising Fire Hawk in those videos are mirrored.
Not that it matters too much but it helps to know.

There's something much more "blocky" about these new charts. I can't really describe how they're different from DDR 2014/2013 charts or older, but I think they somehow fit the context of an arcade more. I don't know how to put it. I appreciate the new content though. Whether people like what's being added or not, at least SOMETHING is happening.

Okay so reminder that while Chris did win KAC, FEFEMZ is still a robot too
So now VDO is the only chart in the series to not have a AAA yet

Shoutouts to the competitive DDR scene being boring as fuck because it's just a back and forth between like three people
