I see Sky High, I am a happy man.
I always liked the Lucyfer Sky High and not the DJ Miko Sky High in DDR. I was excited and then disappointed in A20 when DJ Miko got a new one and not the Lucyfer one.
Here's hoping they can also get some Digital Explosion into the game as well.

At this rate, can we get jun on the team?
Might as well make it the company of Bemani misfits: Tatsh, Scotty Dolph, DJ Yoshitaka and many others that could be added.
Get DM Ashura on board too.
I've Always thought that DJ Miko's Sky High was chosen over Lucyfers was due to it being more popular in Japan (Judging by how it appeared in many compilations & remixed many times in Dancemania)

I hope Kyle Ward is making money on this and not going bankrupt having to pay off all these DDR legend producers
I'm a fan of the StepmaniaX project, but I've been wondering about their longer term business plan. It seems like most hardware companies are built around model upgrades or subscription services, and between the two it seems like creating a subscription plan for their software would be the most natural for them.
However, I imagine that would require a lot of work and would require quite a broad customer base. I don't know if the market for something like that is large enough to be sustainable....
In any case, it's always exciting to see these updates and I wish them the best. Someday I'd love to try StepmaniaX out myself

Remember that old fake rumor that DJ Taka was going to leave Konami to work on In The Groove content? Well, that isn't too farfetched, now. 8I
But seriously, part of me is hoping Kyle can rope in at least Slake to work on SMX, next. >>

Honestly when I heard that NAOKI was joining the project I wondered who else could probably join as well which is REALLY exciting to think about, literally i also thought about that taka rumor and honestly????? super open for that, i love taka and I think seeing him and other legend producers from like 1st mix - 7th mix join the team would be literally a dream come true

Next update has what's probably the first new Perfect Sphere song in almost 20 years, some rare songs by Joga and Tess, and an exclusive song from Fracus, among others!

So, this game actually looks pretty good. Is it just something you buy, or is it something you can find in arcades?

Both! You can buy a machine whenever Step Revolution has them in stock, or you can try to find an arcade that has it.

This is the right answer. There are no region restrictions on the software or hardware, and it's available for anyone to purchase. There are currently 2 ways to buy the game, with a 3rd on the way soon.
1. All-In-One Machine - This is a smaller cabinet with no coin-operated play options, so it's freeplay only. It's a cost-effective options for schools, fitness centers, etc.
2. Dedicated Cabinet - This is the full monte. It's what you'd see in an arcade. Has coin-operated play options, extra lighting package, all the bells and whistles. Has a beefier sound system than the All-In-One.
Both options have the same exact pads, same exact software, same exact 43" touch monitor. Their presentation is just a little different looking on the outside. You can find more info about both at shop.steprevolution.com. The 3rd option will be a standalone monitor with the game that will be available to those that already own one of the dance stages, but don't have a full machine. More details on this option should be available soon.

Kind of a shame they didn't go with the original Megalovania honestly...
Also, am I the only one being reminded of Broken (DJ Genki Remix) with the beginning of Russian Roulette?

The Megalovania remix is pretty good music-wise imo, but it doesn't really make me think of... y'know, Megalovania. Pretty good update all things considered, though. I fucking hate Nori Nori Nori personally, but I KNOW that's bound to please quite a lot of people.

Is no one going to mention that Spaceman is a "duet" that combines both the original version and the cover made for ITG2? I think that's pretty cool!
Can't say I ever expected I'd see Sans in this game; I'd be down for more Undertale/Deltarune music, in the future! (And, of course, my Eurobeat thirst has been quenched, once again. )
If SMX ever comes to Steam, I will give Kyle Ward all my money. 8I

Lynn (Linnea Handberg) wrote it for Bambee and re-recorded it for ITG2. You may also know Linnea as Miss Papaya (Hero, Pink Dinosaur, etc).
No Steam version plans at this time. With the specific hardware it runs on, it's a challenge.

I know! I told Kyle that I would loooove to see SMX come to PC, he didn't give me any comment on it though lol. Seeing as how I'll never save up enough for a dedicab and nowhere near Mississippi has a cab, it's probably the only way I'll ever be able to play. And if they could get the pads in stock regularly, those would fly outta the warehous even faster if people knew they could play a PC version of SMX. Probably.

Pads are slated to be in stock much more frequently going forward than in the past. Jan 15 is the next slated window of availability, followed by late Feb. In the Jan 15th release is a standalone version of the game for those that have pads already that includes the 43" touch screen monitor with the game. A PC/Steam release isn't as feasible because it introduces a whole slew of issues - Keeping it in the same hardware ecosystem allows for better support from our end and less compatibility issues.

Yep - He has speech. The background dynamically changes as well based on current and previous plays.
