Smile.dk announced today that they are officially back, with the launch of their new website. The Website features a preview of their next single "Our Little Corner". The song has a very 90's or early 2000s flavour, which is true to the era of traditional bubblegum dance, and it sounds like a very uplifting and bouncy pop tune.

Also revealed on the Website is a new remix competition, which gives fans the opportunity to remix not only the new single "Our Little Corner" but also 2 famous Smile.dk songs, "Butterfly" and "Boys".

The producers have provided the lead vocals, dub vocals and harmony vocals in WAV for the remixes. Smile.dk will be judging the best remixes to be featured on the new album release "Forever" early next year. The competition closes at midnight on November 30th CET.

If they get popular enough, I wonder if they'll try and team up with Konami to try and fit some more of their music into DDR 2014. Neat.

I wouldn't be surprised if they just threw one of their new songs into the next major DDR update even if it's not popular. The last time smile.dk reformed, they got two songs in DDRX (one of which was a Konami Original crossover). The guys behind the series hold them in pretty high regard because of how important their licenses were in the early days. smile.dk, Captain Jack, and e-rotic were the big three as far as licenses went.

Amusingly, e-rotic also reformed fairly recently. It's the original e-rotic members though, and not the ones who did all of the DDR songs.

Pretty good news to be honest, for DDR Smile.dk was the core of the songlist with Butterfly and now trying to make new songs is really an oportunity to bring this core in the most recent machine. Sadly we need to evaluate this: Naoki was the man who works personally with Smile.dk. TAG works with mostly asian artist (well, except for maybe Darwin/Fracus/Tommy Sunshine, etc etc) and U1 can remix some song randomly. So we have differents scenarios:

- Smile.dk songs goes to Crossxbeats with some Naoki collabs

- Smile.dk songs goes to Bemani (DDR or/and Reflec Beat), with differents artist who gonna remix thing (maybe kors k, U1, TAG, Ryu, or any other)

- Nothing of these scenarios occur

But well, let's see how the remix event is going and just wait for the best Very Happy

Nah, the remix contest is for the new album, the thing about the songs going to DDR is just speculation

I really hope they bring E-Rotic back into DDR now that they're not affiliated with Dancemania anymore. DDR has been missing eurobeat from it's songlists.

They should have done DDR X3 vs. 3rdMIX just to get back some of that Captain Jack and E-Rotic action, plus Mr. Wonderful by Smile.DK, Flashdance and Follow The Sun, plus many more that would have been splendid revivals. Plus it makes way more sense. X3, 3rdMIX... Come on guys.

Sad..... the only Eurobeat left in the entire BEMANI is like 2 Toho Eurobeat songs is SDVX, Yesterday in Dance Evolution, and the aforementioned Mickey Mouse March. And the rest is filled with generic electronics dempa stuff. Sort of. there is still Reflec Beat and Jubeat, and GITADORA.

And yeah, I say that DDR's songlist is too flashy nowadays. Having J-Pop and electronic songs isn't bad, it's just when 70% of the songlist are those that things start getting boring.

Actually, the entirety of mainstream today is flashy and conventional. Every social media site is trying to copy Facebook, most YouTube videos are the same setup (why does at least one adult joke need to be included?), most TV shows nowadays suck, so on... Just, flashy crap mainstream. I will always like the times before 2012 MUCH better.

2008 was YouTube's golden year for me. Back when it was more community focused and videos still had that homemade feel with just the right amount of production value. Back when if you needed some gameplay footage you could quickly find them without some insufferable cash hog talking over it. Remember when YouTube Poops were the sh*t? When they were funnier and quirkier than they were well edited and polished, especially YTPMV, which quickly went to the crapper once pitch shifting and the same Nico Nico Douga and Lapfox Trax sources were introduced. Like CuzcoBlocko said, flashy mediocre crap. I did enjoy them at some point though, but they get redundant. YouTube as we knew it started to fade away starting in the 2010's.

I forgive 2010 because that year was near perfect for me. By the time I lost just about everything computer related (all three computers + YouTube and deviantART + my video camera) at the end of 2011, once I came back, it started feeling....different. And then a year later, things went down the drain. Nowadays, all of my content is ignored by practically everyone except for a few people, which sucks.... I used to always get noticed, and now I don't... it's because the industry (including social websites) are slowly trying to brainwash their people... Movies, music, websites, TV shows... The only tolerable thing left are video games, and even then, there are certain series slowly falling prey to this, like DDR.

This site is practically one of the only places I feel comfortable with. And it's saying something I got banned four times.

Anyway.... These vocals are pretty cool to have. I like seeing the inner workings of songs, especially the ones I like ("what is in there that makes them so awesome?").

That disclaimer, geeeeeeez. Not worth the trouble. Glad to see them back though.

EDIT: Just downloaded the vocals and they're re-recorded, not the original stems. Butterfly sounds completely different now, and while Boys is more or less the same it's sung with a lot more vocal fry which is a huge pet peeve of mine, bleh.

E-Rotic was Eurodance, not Eurobeat (with the exception of Cat's Eye Ventura Mix). The names are similar, so everyone gets them mixed up. Eurodance is the Dancemania sound while Eurobeat is the genre with the fast "dah dah dah-dah-dahdahdah-dah-dah dah" synth riffs that usually play constantly whenever someone isn't singing.

I think the only DDR title that's ever had more than a couple of Eurobeat songs was DDR Disney Mix.

I'm still sad that Doki Doki (Panik mix )didn't make it into DDRX2 with the rest of the Universe 3 tracks. That Challenge chart would have fit in perfectly with what DDRX2 was all about in pushing 14s.

"BANNED"
Cool a remix of Dancing All Alone. Plus four new songs Future Girls, Hollywood, Moshi Moshi and the upcoming Our Little Corner. Can't wait for those to be added to DDR.
