Awesome! Thank you, Ben!! Yes, "Fire" sounded a little off. The other two sound okay to me.

Two of those are in my queue on Crunchy Roll, but haven't had a chance to watch them yet. Looks like the third is on Amazon Prime.. will have to check that one out too.

Here are a few of my recent favorites...

Boogiepop and Others OP
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBbWSxqJSOI

Jo Jo Vento Aureo OP 1 (way better than OP2!)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OchozLuSHM0

Reincarnated as a Slime OP 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfpINN7bkj4

Shield Hero OP 1 (way better than OP2!)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZvFEtR8RH0

Not sure how well they would translate into Simfiles, but I thought I'd throw them out there in case you hear some potential in them. Shield Hero OP 1 might be the best one in my opinion, but I will defer to the expert!

Btw, have you thought about doing a Patreon? I would sign up for sure! I'm not expecting anything special from it, I just want to support content that I really enjoy.

Hey Jeff! I'm glad you enjoyed the anime files as I had an absolute blast creating them aha. I'm not sure why the recordings sound a little off, I think it may have been something to do with my headphones not being plugged in when screen recording, I'll check next time.

As for your list, I actually watched Boogiepop and AM watching Shield Hero (even though imo it's sadly gone very downhill from the first few episodea aha) and thought about charting those for the first pack! I may well revisit the anime OPs/EDs at some point as particularly Rise would make an awesome file I think aha.

Regarding Patreon... y'know you're like the 12th person to have asked me for that this year alone aha and whilst I've taken commissions, against my overly British awkwardness I have opened a Patreon today. What I DIDN'T know is that Patreon is a monthly thing so please if anybody donates CANCEL THAT SHIT cos I don't want anybody paying twice for anything aha.

It's here if you wanna check it, added some dumb reward tiers cos I feel like I HAVE to do something special for you guys that wish to donate. But remember that my stuff will ALWAYS ALWAYS be free okay?!

https://www.patreon.com/speirmix

Other than that I have a PayPal or you can PM me on here and I can work something out with you to at least reward you for your generosity aha.

Thank you for even CONSIDERING to donate though, even if you never do just the thought that some of you guys would pay for what I do is very humbling.

As for updates to this pack, I have a BUNCH of music I stepped as a commission for one guy who ordered about 16 songs, my only issue is the don't have music videos and I'd hate for them to go without as I've managed to get every song a video so far! So once I find some maybe generic videos to splice together I'll release a chunk. Not very mainstream music mind you but cool stuff nonetheless!

Cool, I signed up! I'm fine with doing the monthly thing. Feels like less money leaving my bank account when it comes out a little bit each month :-P

That's very very kind of the few of you that have explored it. I'll post some songs from my back catalogue of unreleased stuff as a thank you at the end of the month!!

Received a few commissions as well and they have kindly allowed me to post the simfiles to the public once complete so look forward to a varied mix of genres coming up!

As for NORMAL updates to this pack, I have a few things that I'm working on, including a song that I discovered whilst in Japan last month which is kind of hilarious haha. Stay tuned!

setting up a system to get paid to make sims is some really gross shit, ngl
i get you wanna support the creator but simfiles are already enough of a weird legal gray area and i cannot condone paying someone to take licensed material they neither own nor have the rights to and making sims to call their own
edit: someone brought it to my attention that "well at least it isn't pay-to-play" but considering how each tier gains you access to "unreleased simfiles" and "future releases", i'm gonna have to go ahead and beg the fuck to differ.

I'm glad we have a keyboard warrior among us. All of this has always been a grey area since the mid 2000's when I started playing stepmania. But I can't deny that half to two thirds of my library comes from one person. Literally hundreds of hours between me and my wife and many of my friends before that of just playing Ben's songs. If I want to support someone who has brought me that joy then that's my fucking decision.

EDIT: and for a little more information. I could care less that me paying is getting me more songs. I payed for the years of his previous work.

It's something I've been back and forth about for a while and I've seen many posts about this in Facebook groups and the like and I've seen both sides of the argument, I know it's a grey area. I've had numerous people contact me with offers to chart some stuff they personally want and I want to be clear that I never ever say "well that's gonna cost ya!" aha, it's always them who WANT to pay something for their time. And whilst I've seen others charge $30, $50 for a song I've always been very upfront that I do this for fun first and foremost but if people really want to throw something my way as a Brit I feel awkwardness and embarrassment so keep it very low in comparison aha.

I know you know this but simfile making can be a long process, and that process becomes even longer when it's a song you're maybe not familiar with, maybe don't even enjoy. And I guess yeah at that point you could just simply NOT chart it, but if somebody wants it and doesn't have the time or knowledge about charting to do it themselves I think it'd be more disappointing for them to not have the option to play what they wanted to. I don't know, I know that for example if people were to chart customs for something like Singstar, something I personally love, I wouldn't think twice about offering something for their time.

I think you misunderstood the future releases, I have a pack in the works that I'm gonna release public, I was gonna send a handful of the stuff I've already finished for it as a preview of sorts. I'm not about to go full time only updating those who throw bucks my way aha, I've received completely random donations out of the blue in the past and have always followed it up by sending them something special or doing them a favour, at least this way people who want to do something know they won't get ignored and it's just a special thanks really!

But I do see where you're coming from and I'm thankful for your opinion!

Also, I'll look into ko-fi if it's a one time thing that also guarantees the customer something too, it's not something I've explored much but I'm happy to take a look!

maybe if someone really enjoyed his content and sent him money via paypal as a way of thanking him for his work, then there's no problem. Then it's a gift, he's not being directly paid for the sims.

This is not a grey area when you are paid for making sims of music you do not have the legal right to distribute and sell. It's your decision to support someone if you want to, but it is not legal for someone to distribute content they don't have the legal right to, and supporting that doesn't reflect well on you. Quite frankly I don't care how much of your simfile library is Ben's files, it doesn't change the legality of this. Send a money gift or something, that's better.

I think ko-fi is a fantastic alternative, i've seen quite a few people use it and it seems like a neat site, would recommend that if anything.

I truly don’t see anything wrong with what he’s doing. If you don’t like the idea, don’t support it, simple. I for one have no problem sending someone money to make a simfile or as a donation for all of their hard work for simfiles I frequently use.

"five minute white boy challenge"
I'm perfectly okay with a Patreon of it, being paid to make a simfile is more than just "being paid to distribute music" to me.

It's basically how I feel about being paid to make fan-art of official IPs. You're profiting a hell of a lot more off your own work than you are the IP. And let's be real here, there are people out there with patreons and donation boxes that just record themselves playing the game. This is a lot less shitty than that.

getting paid to redistribute content you don't own or have the rights to and claim it as your own content is super shady and potentially illegal but i mean if you don't see anything wrong with it and if people just turn a blind eye to it then everything's okie dokie, right?

I get where you are coming from and I see your point but bashing him and everyone else that’s okay with it on a public board like this is a bit overkill. This community is built on file sharing and if one of the top tier step artists has something set up for donations and the like isn’t a bad thing. Patreon isn’t the best answer but Ben does great work, what do you think he should use instead Annoywolf?

Can someone explain to me why making the content without getting money is legal? I'm so confused.

So it's not legal to do it without getting paid, it's not legal to do it with getting paid. I straight up consider this a donation for his years of service to this site and people are getting up in arms about it? You guys confuse me sometimes.

This community is all about using music without the rights. It’s different when it’s a commissioned artist or something but I truly could argue both sides with this. I just don’t think it’s right to bash anybody for their opinion. In my own POV Ben is doing multiple songs for me that I own the rights to since they are my tracks from start to finish. In this case he definitely deserved my money.
