Moved back to Moncton NB and every cab here is now gone except for the old Crystal Palace PIU NX machine that's at magic mountain during the summer (and is busted as hell). Cineplex used to have ITG in Moncton/Fredericton, but I think only Fredericton has it left? Otherwise the province is a sad place for dance games. Crystal Mountain used to have PIU NX and DDR megamix but they closed down after like a year.

Halifax NS has a brand new PIU XX machine at playdium which is fantastic, but pads are already feeling the wear after a year. Don't think PEI has anything unless I'm mistaken.

The cineplex in Fredericton doesn't seem to have ITG anymore, didn't see it when I was there a couple weeks back but it was also closed so for all I know it could still be there somewhere I couldn't see. Still sucks if it was taken out though.

Just got back from vacation in Montreal. My DDR session was yesterday. It was DDR SuperNOVA at Marché aux Puces Métropolitain. I was surprised with the condition of all of the machines there, and they were spaced out from eachother too.

The DDR at that location is the one that used to be at the Montreal Forum GamesCentre. I know this because my name popped up as the high score during the loading screen of a song during my session yesterday without playing it earlier that day (Humble brag Puppy Face). I While it is nice to see the machine still in commission, it seems like an indication that the GamesCentre is done for. It would also be nice to see it's pump it up at another spot, since it is way newer than the DDR. A spectator was kind enough to give me a free token Happy

I was also playing with someone the whole time, if you're reading this, GG's.

Update: Yesterday, I found and played another DDR machine in the Atlantic provinces. Summerside, PEI. Even though playing on it was… interesting, i’m glad that there’s another machine in this region. I updated it’s listing on this website as well.

I may be visiting Winnipeg sometime within the coming months. I'd be interested in playing DDR and SMX, possibly others if I end up going.

I have been wondering where that cab is now it’s closed. Was gonna message and ask but didn’t wanna bother them. Regardless it really sucks how they closed. Currently just 1 public IIDX in the entire country from my count now.

they are in private ownership until another venue who's willing to host them pops up

That’s good to hear, hopefully it stays in Canada if/when it goes public again.

I'm curious if there's anything in Canada, on a level like Galloping Ghost in Illinois... just a big, big collection of cabinets in one central place (but, in Canada). I don't think anything like this exists, but just wanted to ask. Thank you!

In Ontario Pixel Paradise Arcade is the largest retro arcade in the province, by Manitoba you have Phantom Amusements. Not familiar with other provinces with large arcade game collections open to the public

Thanks for the names! Pixel Paradise is closest, but even at that... 5hrs of driving (at least I don't have to pass through Toronto).

If anyone knows somewhere in Quebec (Montreal most likely), please do share Smile

There's like a single arcade in the entire province. It's Amusement 20/20, in Laval (North shore of Montreal), not necessarily easy to access by transit. There's PIU and SMX only in terms of rhythm games. You can find some abandoned DDR cabs in movie theaters here and there sometimes too, but they're mostly unplayable and some are bootleg cabs running weird mixes. If you're lucky, you'll find an Extreme at best =P

Thank you!! 20/20 looks like the best for the province. Lots of neat options it seems there!

Does seem easy enough taking the Orange STM line up to Place Bell, and then a bus with a bit of walking Smile

I'm not much of a rhythm gamer myself I must admit, but good to know that they're running odd units here and there. Thanks for the information Smile

Amusement 2k doesn't have their SMX cab anymore. There are two new arcades downtown Montreal called Arkad, one of them has a PIU LX cab but beyond that it's all Raw Thrills/redemption games. There's also a pinball club that I don't recall the name of right know but they have a SDVX cab, everything should be in the Arcades tracker.

When I visited Amusement 20/20 for StepManiaX and Colossus Laval for DDR Extreme, I took the Ligne Orange to Montmorency, then walked to the arcades. It is a regular fare when Montmorency is the destination, but a premium B fare to start a trip at the station. Now that Amusement 20/20 no longer has SMX, and Colossus Laval no longer has DDR Extreme, I do not find it worthwhile to visit the area.

I suspect that Quilles G Plus Rose Bowl bought the StepManiaX from 20/20. However, it is offline, and Player 2 missed steps, so I hesitate to recommend it. Here is a video of Player 1. The two GameTime machines in the GTA, at Burlington (which I played) and Mississauga, are a much better option.

There is currently a promotion at Cineplex Xscape for bonus credits, until May 18, 2023. The $30 card includes 220 credits, instead of the usual 200, while the $50 card includes 420 credits, instead of the usual 340. The price does not include taxes. Sadly, there are fewer Xscape arcades with dance machines these days, but Cinéma Banque Scotia Montréal and Cineplex Ottawa (the former Coliseum) both offered DDR Extreme during my latest visits.

If Cineplex sends you a survey, please ask them to add a dance machine at other Xscape locations! This could be a newer Dance Dance Revolution game, or the latest Pump It Up XX, but my personal favourite is StepManiaX. Cineplex distributes PIU and SMX, so it should be feasible to add at least one to Xscape.

Actually, there is another cinema chain that has DDR and ITG in their arcades called Cinéma Guzzo, the one I go regularly has ITG2, buuuuttt, there are problems, 1st of all marquee lights are gone, 2nd, all the pads don't flash lights when pressed, 3rd, the left pad drops holds at times, which makes it unplayable, 4th, no custom songs despite being r23, and the worst part, IT IS EXTREMEMLY PRICY AS HELLLLLLL!!!!!! I mean 1$ per song? come on! AND IT HAS BEEN LIKE THAT FOR 2 #$#$#$ YEARS! I also heard that cinema guzzo also don't maintain their arcades very well, the ones at montreal are really really HORRIBLE! At Mega Plex marché central, there is a working ddr extreme machine, but the right pad misfires a ton, and don't get me started on the itg2 machine at mega flex lacodaire WHERE BOTH PADS ARE IN HORRIBLE CONDITION AND HAS BEEN OUT OF SERVICE FOR 1 YEAR!, It would be really funny for you to go in one of the guzzo arcades and rant them in a video.
I love going to arcades as long as they have DDR or ITG!

I have B-roll footage of the entire arcade! It's just not online yet. As you may know, I uploaded my three ESP AA runs on DDR Extreme!

I played it after watching Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero in Digital IMAX,
which was a nice treat! For some reason, DDR Extreme might be off. If so,
please ask a Guzzo staff member to turn it on. The game works decently.

Cinéma Guzzo, the one I go regularly has ITG2, buuuuttt, there are problems,

That is sad to hear. There used to be five or so ITG2 machines in the Ottawa-Gatineau region, which doesn't have Cinémas Guzzo (even though Jean Coutu sells Guzzo gift cards), but over time, ITG2 was either discontinued or out of order. I don't think our region even has one any more, but I want to bring it back (even if it's a DDR conversion) or introduce StepManiaX to the area. The thing is, in the event that we or Guzzo get StepManiaX, it still needs maintenance, even if minimal. I don't think Quilles G Plus fixed the broken P2. It's great to find ITG2 in public, but I think almost no venues bother maintaining old dance games, and so StepManiaX helps fill a void.

Maybe! However, I believe that these are nice family entertainment centres (FECs), along with activities such as mini bowl, bumper cars and the jungle gym. I think that Guzzo should make sure that the games work, that there's a variety of fun options, and that the centres stand out compared to Xscape. I would also like to see an option to just visit the games area. It's expensive to require a movie ticket, movies are a big time commitment, and few of them (such as Suzume, Mario, Dragon Ball, most documentaries, etc.) are worthwhile. FECs can become the main attraction, even for a small entrance fee. Maybe someone can pitch that on Dragon's Den. 😉

Edit: fixed formatting

I have been in Ottawa before fun fact and during my trip, I had fun going to Funhaven there, cuz they had an X2 machine even tho it was a Betson Crapocab, but unlike Guzzo and Cineplex arcades, it is well maintained. and plus, the Cinéma Guzzo I told you that has ITG2 is at Méga Plex Pont Viau, yes, the one in laval, because it's the only ITG2 we have at Laval at all, Laval only has PIU not really my type of dance game, which makes Guzzo Pont Viau the only place for ITG2, sad to hear despite it is horribly maintained, pricy and you need to buy a movie ticket for it. Laval doesn't have DDR Extreme, but I do play the Japanese PS2 version of it on my hacked PS2, which I highly reccomend cuz it is the closest thing you'll get to the real arcade version of Extreme.

Yeah, I totally agree with you that Guzzo's arcades stand out because unlike Cineplex, they don't have redeption arcades which is the only thing you see at most Xscape arcades, plus, aside from the bad ITG2 and DDR machines, they have a lot of fun other arcades and activities without the redeption BS. Xscape have become worse over the years, and another thing about Laval is, the Cineplex at laval was the only arcade that had DDR Extreme at Laval, but instead of actually maintaining it or even keeping it, they decided to remove it completely. I was crying in tears when I found that out because It was the only place in Laval to ever have DDR Extreme. At least Guzzo does keep their dance game machines even tho they are broken, so maybe in the future they could fix it, who knows. I hope the arcade owner in mega plex pont viau could do something about the ITG2 machine and at least beg them to add custom song support just so they can redeem theirselves a bit Big GrinVery Happy Oh yeah, btw here's the footage of my local dedicab Sorry if it looked like a video made in 2007 lol. I always film with an old point and shoot.
I love going to arcades as long as they have DDR or ITG!
