Reseating the JAMMA connector would just assure that there isnt a faulty connection between the minimaid and your arcade machine. You can also try opening up notepad and see if there are button presses for your pads and face buttons on the machine. They should register as letters and numbers for each corresponding button. Let me know how it goes.

As for shipment, going to go ahead and bump it to next weekend though next weekend will be a definete. I'm stuck at work going on 2 1/2 shifts right now with two crisis's having been handled. I'm also halfway through getting purchases squared away wiht a few individuals so I didnt want to cut them off onto the next round of shipments. Thanks guys! Talk to you more this weekend as questions arise.

Always best to check connections as it's the first troubleshooting too you should do. There are times when I've moved my cabinet in and out or replugged it back in after having tested minimaid boards before shipping and my buttons and or pads dont work and all I would have to do is unplug and replug it back in to fix the problem.

I've already tested the inputs in oITG and only the Operator and 'Insert Coin' buttons work and that's it.

thats not a big problem then... unless its going on a public machine... that might not work unless you have a keyboard handy with you

DancingMatt, sk8mag, MooingLemur, Mr-808, alexr1, Rizzm, your boards are packaged up and ready to go. Had a 1 day delay because, well, I forgot that monday was labor day. Roll Eyes (an american holiday in which no mail runs for the down under customer.)

Anyway, they will be in tomorrow's mail!

For those that are on the fence, or have asked me to make a general statement, or something of the sort, I am getting lower on stock and again I'm not anticipating making another run of these boards or even if I did it would be a very very long time from now in which the board parts would likely be EOL anyway. It's always hard to make a guess because some months Ill have a couple purchases and some months Ill have more than 10. I'm going to guess my stock will be available for 1 or 2 more months, but again once I'm out I'm out. There may be a few more boards here and there that were culled out for reworking on before selling but those will be spotty and probably only available one at a time first come first served, etc etc.

General Idea: If you want a board, now is the time to get one.

Cleaned the connectors on the minimaid, works fine.

oITG feels so darn nice to play. Been able to FA stuff all day and the lights working makes it even better.

I got my DDR Minimaid last week. It worked great, and that same night, I hacked up some code that was started by buzzert in his openitg fork, and mostly completed it to treat the minimaid as a first-class IO/Lights controller in Linux. Big Grin

After doing this, I wanted to move it all to a new board/computer. This is where I have a new problem. The Minimaid seems to hate the modern Intel Haswell USB host controllers. Whenever the game opens the minimaid device, it goes through a rapid-fire disconnect/reconnect loop. It doesn't matter whether I connect it to USB2 or USB3 ports, or whether I have xhci enabled or disabled in the kernel, I end up with the same behavior, albeit with different actual errors. The code that updates the minimaid for lights and receives input in openitg is smart enough to reconnect to the minimaid on error, so it's actually able to get updates out to the lights about half the time, and receive input about as much.

I don't know if it's Linux doing the wrong thing or the Minimaid firmware. If you're using the Minimaid in Linux as a keyboard device, I bet this problem doesn't happen, but since I want full lights control, I'd much rather go the native route.

If there's anyone out there who can confirm this or offer insight, I'd appreciate it. If any of you are running openitg in linux and don't have working lights, and would like to, please try building it from my repo.

cd /usr/src
git clone https://github.com/mooinglemur/openitg.git

and use the same procedure as you would to build the upstream openitg with the same dependencies.

You'll need to update your Keymaps.ini, and I can offer one, or you can just figure it out yourself from the input test menu Smile

Just to clarify, my workaround was to use an older USB2 PCI card and plug the Minimaid into that. This uses a separate chipset from any of the onboard USB ports and the problem goes away. In light of RyogAkari's post about the Minimaid stock not being replenished after the current run, it may be moot if no one is interested in working on fixing it, and we'll just have to stick to older or at least non-Intel Haswell USB.

Just for insight, is there anyone here running oITG on Windows with their Minimaid on something as new as Haswell? (Socket 1150).

Just to keep you all up to date. It looks like I'll be doing my shipment on October 4th. This is just over the month deadline from the first purchase that came in on this batch so I do apologize. From the way sales are going and interest that is coming in I do anticipate being sold out at that time and starting a wait list for some of the extra boards we will be building from our bare pcb supply or moddified boards supply.

if you follow style_of_2001's steps to get lights working with Stepmania 5 back on page 2 of this thread, I can confirm that this is now supported in the main branch, I got them working in beta 3 (and presumably the daily builds for beta 4 too) - it did lock up the PC upon exit the first time I ran SM5 with lights, so I'm not sure if that was a fluke or something everyone will go through the first time.

As an update to the shipping I'm going to need to delay by one week to get out the boards to everyone. I will be completely sold out but I won't be able to make the October 4th weekend ship date. Sorry for the delay guys! Just trying to wrap up the last of the boards in one shipment so that I dont have to drive out again to the post office (I live out in the super boonies).

Thanks again to everyone that has made a purchase!!!

All sold out of minimaids! Thank you for the exceptional interest. I'll be monitoring the secondary market and requests to see if there warrants another run in the distant future however this will be the 5th and last standard run of minimaids as you know it.

I'll be shipping off the final 12 minimaids purchased this upcoming weekend (october 11th weekend.)

Say it ain;t so! I was just about to order one Cry.

Well, consider this my vote for another run, and preferably a less distant future for said run. Or maybe make it possible for someone else to produce them.

Boards are packaged! Sadly Monday is Columbus day. Boards will go out Tuesday. Thank you guys so much for everything!
Ill be getting tracking numbers out to all tonight and tomorrow.

Boards are out as of yesterday. Everyone should have their tracking numbers waiting in their PM box for those that purchased.

So what happens now? Well it's possible that this will be my last post for a long while except for possible support and troubleshooting here and there. We will be monitoring the secondary market to see how boards do changing hands by those that don't want them anymore and as interest comes in. Hopefully with the number of boards that are out in the population this should be a steady exchange of hands. In that eventual event far down the road it is the creator's plan to make minimaid open source for ingenuity to reign. Is that happening tomorrow? Of course not. People have paid a fair market price for these boards and their financial investment should be respected and protected. They paid for the right to use minimaid and we are grateful for it.

Now there is the other side of the coin. Supply and Demand drive market prices from anything and everything especially on the secondary market of whatever it is you are interested in. These prices can become volatile when there is no more new market if new interest arrives when old interest is not around to supply for the new interest. It's certainty not our intent to allow sharks to price gouge a discontinued product. In the event of that case we've stocked up on a couple EOL parts for the board "just in case" we had to do another run. Realistically we hope that that is a deterrent to driving up prices on used boards rather than actually doing that as another run would be drastically different from the previous runs through these past 4 years (unsupported, non troubleshooted, etc. Basically just buy the product if you already have a knowledge as to how it works or if you are capable of researching it on your own or constructing your own software to use it).

So is this the end? Probably. We've sold boards for over 4 years now. Over 200 units are out in the wild. Thats a crazy amount for something that caters to the private collectors market of a still niche interest. And yet it's never really the end. We'll be watching, waiting, and deciding how and when to go open source or to produce more (and then eventually go open source). No need to contact us, we'll contact you about the future. Until then, thanks for being a part of something amazing!

If there's ever another run I'll buy one just for posterity's sake, and if I ever come across another DDR cab I want/need to mod.

I have a feeling another run will be necessary. There are enough machines out there that need more life in them Smile
