Dunno if anybody wants to faff about with them or offer feedback, but I'm posting them just in case. Kinda have a few more in mind, assuming it's a meritable idea that's worth the effort. One of them is New Decade + Anti-Matter + Valkyrie Dimension, just for the FYI.

Abyss + ECSTASY + INSERTiON

Across the nightmare + SAKURA + The legend of MAX

Burning Heat! + TSUGARU + KAKUMEI

Do It Right + Kind Lady + Look To The Sky

PARANOiA + PARA Rebirth + PARA MAX (DIRTY MIX)

Poseidon + Pluto + Uranus

SUPER STAR + CELEBRATE NITE + DYNAMITE RAVE

SP/JUNGLE + TRIP MACHINE + (luv mix)

"."
The best of them all is the Paranoia Classics...but that's mostly because they were all of the same kinda style so transitioning doesn't seem too weird, but the others like Burning+Tsu+kakumei were not so good.

They just faded into each other and didn't seem to blend or transition correctly.

Yeah, trying to stay at or around the 2-minute mark, while retaining a playworthy flow in steps doesn't offer as much wiggle room as I'd anticipated. Confused

So I should chalk this idea up to a failed experiment, then? Or maybe give some more overlap/fade during transitions and tweak with them more?

I can say i enjoyed every of those mixes minus the first one. It sounds pretty weird with the dadiation.

Favourite is the PARANOiA one.

I'd say most of these are pretty good. There are a few spots where the cut wasn't perfectly clean (like in the middle of Abyss and PARANOiA Rebirth -> MAX (DIRTY MIX)) but overall they are pretty good. I'd suggest using more fade in/out in certain transitions, especially ECSTASY -> INSERTiON. I especially liked SUPER NITE RAVE, the transitions were awesome in that one. And I actually liked the TRIP MACHINE medley better than the PARANOiA one, I felt that the flow was better.

Don't chalk this up as a failure, just a little tweaking and polishing here and there will make them even better than they already are.

Did you use Audacity to make these? Audacity can be used to do so much more than just cut and paste parts of various songs. For starters, fading in/out and working in layers would be a great idea.

Simfiles for these would be nice though...official steps or not.

Using MixCraft 5. It has a kind of annoying tendency to to start beatmapping the first instant of the file, rather than the beginning of the sound; and I didn't see of anywhere to make that adjustment in the software itself, so I had to snap off the beatmapper (unfortunately) and adjust them more manually. They're early makes, and the fades/transition feedback above is exactly why I was posting them... and to see if the concept was good enough to follow through on.

In fact, a proper fade-in is probably the biggest oomph in Burning Heat! > TSUGARU; but admittedly, I'm not totally sure how I should transition to KAKUMEI. Obviously a hard transition isn't the greatest option, but KAKUMEI's busyness before the transition point (IE: "that jump" in the stepchart) makes fading that in a bad idea. I suppose I could fade out the full note of TSUGARU, if it would really make that difference... ~.~ (Honestly, it seemed a better idea from the stepcharting/BPM perspective... them all being in different keys is what makes it trickier to actually pull off.)

Kind Lady > Look To The Sky is missing some kind of something too, I think. It's another of those hard transitions that just... needs *something.*

AbyssECSTERTiON (lol) was first attempted with the pauses overlapping of the three, uncut. This sprung it a little too close to 3:00 instead of the two... the first thing I trimmed was the post-pause buildup in INSERTiON, figuring "let's just get to the meat of it." That still turned out to be 2:35. Confused Might just be too much song-tweaking all-around. I suppose I could try swapping Abyss and INSERTiON and editing them less... INSERTiON has a fun enough opening, although I really love the slide-friendly streamy pre-pause part of Abyss best, personally (hence why I kept that part in).

Other combos I had in mind (actual mileage may vary):

Holic + BURNIN' THE FLOOR + B4U
(Holic has the BPM, but again, there's that whole "different tone/key/style" thing. Also considering LEADING CYBER instead.)

Miracle Moon (LED style) + THE SHINING POLARIS + INJECTION OF LOVE

sync + Colors + V (for EXTREMEs)

HANA RANMAN (Flowers) + MONDO STREET + RED ZONE
(I kinda realize that RED ZONE being the moderate BPM, might flow smoother in the middle, but I LOVE that freakin' ending. That's the way to send this one off, I just know it! Might open with MONDO STREET instead, or consider another song, it's already in what, four or five mashups like this? XD lol)

Insaner (LED Mix) + 250 bpm (J&S Mix) + MAX 300 (SMM Mix)

Taj He Spitz (maybe BFRT) + Playa (OG Mix) + Dance Celebration

A Brighter Day + Gotta Dance + You Are A Star

osaka + tokyo + London EVOLVED (types A/B/C)
maybe KANSAI + L.A. + Tohoku EVOLVED as a type D, even
(Opening with osaka is a no-brainer, as it's the only one that's different early on, and clearly the easiest of the triad. tokyo/L.A. EVO makes for a good enough middle ground, because even their different charts fit the same tune until the end, and can transition to London's/Tohoku's post-pause variation of ending, clearly the funnest parts of those. Tricky things are not overextending the mix, and the fact that osakaEVOLVED is practically beatmap-proof...)

dreaming can make a wish come true + MAGIC PARADE + IN THE ZONE
(I'm sure there's another good option for that third stage, it's just not hitting me right now. Seasons is a good song, but has a kinda sucky chart, and is way too fast BPM'd; and Wicked Plastik, while almost fitting, would DESTROY the relative difficulty of charting that.)

HEARTBREAK + Surrender + Still Unbreakable

New Decade + Anti-Matter + Valkyrie Dimension

I'd like to do ones for Ultramix 2/4 and Universe 1/3 too; still tossing around conceptuals that aren't already done internally (like Uni 1's Acid-Tech Mix, which I LOVE playing). Tempted to go with some underappreciated-but-wicked-cool gems from Uni 3, like My Hero, Consuela, Inspiration, KEEP ON MOVING (Orbit 1 Mix), Lament Configuration, or Tesla Coil. Still fumbling around with concepts that work like that.
