It's an event where arcade game manufacturers and distributors advertise their games and services to prospective buyers.
ReRave is already confirmed.

Already on the second day of EAG 2012, so a brief report.
Nothing outstanding to report this year, the most notable game this year is ReRave which is located at the BANDAI NAMCO GAMES stand. Chris Foy and Chris Cotty are on scene promoting the game; the game seems to be generating quite a bit of interest.
DanceDanceRevolution X2, non-drifting version, was on display this year at the Electrocoin stand with no problems with the pads although the USB ports have been cross-wired where the 1P port is actually 2P and vice-versa. Again, nothing new as for this year.
Over at JNC Sales stand, second hand Dancing Stage EuroMIX2 and Guitar Hero Arcade were on display, £2650 and £3950 respectively.
The distinct lack of any DJMAX TECHNIKA or Pump It Up games this year was slightly surprising.
BANDAI NAMCO GAMES were showing games such as Dead Heat, Pac-Man Battle Royale, Dirty Drivin', Super Bikes 2, Super Cars, Dead-Storm Pirates and various other redemption games like last year. There was an additional stand where Dead-Storm Pirates 3-D was on show.
SEGA were showing games such as Let's Go Island 3D, Operation G.H.O.S.T., Super Monkey Ball Ticket Blitz, Frogger, Ice Age, Sonic Air Hockey (4-players) and various other redemption games, again similar to last year.
Generally, pretty low-key this year. Pictures and videos to follow later this weekend.

San Diegos local Dave and Busters has one of those pacman machines. It's fun with 3 or 4 people, otherwise it's just you vs. CPU. Not as fun

Honestly, the more I look at this thing, the more it confuses me. Why would you use a DDR-style pad for Tetris - one with a bar at that - as opposed to just a regular joystick? And why is the field of play so narrow?

Can't complain; the playfield is actually quite wide for a tetris game (12 blocks) and it's connected to a good-old-fashioned TX home pad.
Thing is - Re-Rave Arcade LOOKS crap from the outset, but play it and the game proper grows on you, especially when you begin passing 8s and 9s: Naughty Song (level 8) is EASILY the most fun chart in the whole game - sorta like playing a ITG song on Hard but not limited to 4 panels.
